Seravalli: Buffalo may not have a choice but to trade Peterka

Sure is. And his acquisition cost relative to Cozens will reflect that. If JJP moves, it won’t be on the cheap.

Nobody said it would.

In fact I wouldn't even trade him, I would take that 9th overall pick and use it to make a legitimate effort to get better.

It's been 14 years It's time to do SOMETHING

Fully agree. I don’t think the odds Peterka gets traded are high. He’s an RFA whose only leverage is the ability to sign an offer sheet that the Sabres could just match. I expect Buffalo to be pretty aggressive this summer trying to get better.

Oh I think he's getting traded, it might take longer like Necas did but I believe it will eventually happen.

I just think It's a REALLY, REALLY REALLY REALLY BAD idea.

Every Sabres fan wanted Reinhart traded out West. Adams had ZERO issues dealing him in-division, with no upcharge present.

If Adams is dealing JJP.....he'll take the best deal regardless of who's offering it.

Looking back I have a VERY hard time believing that was the best offer and if it was Holy shit balls you hold on to him until camp see if the offers improve

You also have to remember that Reinhart was an RFA, with just one year of control remaining and he was arbitration eligible and he no longer wanted to play in Buffalo. If Buffalo had let him go through arbitration, he would have signed a one year deal and would have been a complete rental. Trading him as an RFA, Florida was able to lock him up for multiple years. I'm not sure his value wouldn't have dropped more had he been signed, and it was pretty clear they didn't want him around all the young players at camp since he wanted out.

In the end, Levi and Kulich for arbitration eligible Reinhart was not terrible value.

You have to evaluate it at the time.

You also had fiala for 1st and Faber and he was an RFA with 1 yr to free agency

Buchevich was also traded.

Reinhart jumped to a ppg player after joining Florida. Why? I don't know.him scoring 30-35g is reasonable, but getting ppg is a jump from him after _ yrs jn buffalo.

Why do they need to deal him he's an RFA and they have lots of cap? Should deal Tuch if anyone as he's got value and only one year left and probably won't re-sign if they don't improve.

Player reportedly has asked for a trade. They don't have to deal him but they may not want a bad environment again.
Fact Check: Has not reportedly asked for a trade. He’s reported to be “unhappy” which is pretty standard Allan Walsh negotiating. Sabres don’t need to trade him, though they will if the deal is right. Low ball offers will not be considered for a player with 4 years of team control.

Tuch is a WNY native and grew up a Sabres fan. The plan is to extend him in july. If they can't agree then he's available to be traded.

He was the featured player for Eichel. They trade him without an effort to resign him will cause a fan revolt unless h es traded in a big hockey trade like for mcdavid.

Buffalo is not shopping peterka. Sure he could get OS by another club. If they are to trade him the return will need to be equivalent to more than the OS comp of 1st, 2nd, 3rd

None of these guys have asked for a trade. They all clearly want to see if the Sabres and Adams are serious and to put their money where their mouth is. They want to see them actually try and improve the team as crazy as that sounds. Why would anyone want to commit to that right now?

They shouldn't but on the other hand if a guy REALLY doesn't want to be there and you keep him that's probably not for the room.
