Seravalli: Buffalo may not have a choice but to trade Peterka

Or Sabres add Byram?
JJP + Byram should return a high end player in his prime, imo. Not too sure who that player is though. Or who is available.
Its just guessing what is the add because no one really knows what GMs value their players but

You always want to add to get the better player. I would want to add prospects or draft picks and not roster players so your team gets better without removing anyone else off of the roster.

I think I would rather do JJP and Byram on seperate trades unless I am getting two players back or if it was for someone like Elias Pettersson but I don't think the Canucks trade him.

It depends on yhr moves they nake.

They can trade both byram and peterja and nake the playoffs

Assuming no injuries, thr only plsyoff locks j see are Carolina and Florida.

If marner and Tavares go, what does Toronto do? Thry could takr a big step back and change the team and bunch

It all depends where teams are around the deadline and what they do after.

I See many teams all bunched at the Olympic break.

Honestly? The truth is nobody is really concerned about Marner leaving, and there are people That want Tavares gone too.

I am not among those people because I see center as a much more important position than wing but those people do exist.

Here is the reality, Marner is a great player but after nearly a decade changes are needed.

If you are Toronto you've got nearly 30 million dollars in cap space before any trades.

You have your #1 LW in Knies You have your #1 RW in Nylander.

You have your #3 LW in McMann and your #3 RW in Domi both can play top 6 we have seen them do it.

If you take Marner's money and you spread it around and you use it to bring in 2 players for example Marchand and Granlund let's just say It's them because I do think they will target both.

Neither is as talented as Marner they just aren't.

But if you go into next season with

LW
Knies
Marchand
McMann

RW

Nylander
Granlund
Domi

Are you better off?

I think so, again Marchand and Granlund are NOT as talented as Marner but they would make Toronto deeper.

And that's the answerto your question they are not going to get somebody as talented as Marner
they can't, even if they signed Ehlers he's not as talented.

They are going to take that money, spread it around and get deeper

Replace Durzi with Kesserling and it’s closer.
The best offer I could stomach is Schmaltz + Maccelli + Durzi. Unless we start talking about picks or prospects.

I understand that you have to give to get and you'd probably want a single better player, but I wouldn't include pieces that appear to be part of the long term plan (such as Kesselring).

Sabres can’t fit $15m in cap space. Durzi isn’t stylistically what the Sabres need. Maccelli’s value has to be insanely low after last year. And Schmaltz, while very interesting as a player, has a 10 team NTC which the Sabres are near certain to be on. So yeah, it’s got to be Kesselring, and I totally get why you pass.

Trying not to be snarky, but you want a 23 year old 1st line player and you're offering 3 depth pieces. This also has Buffalo absorbing 15 million dollars in salary in the process. I'd say that's a pretty easy no for Buffalo.

Could definitely start talking about picks instead but I don't think these teams are good trade partners. Both want the same thing.

Buffalo isnt putting both in the deal unless something huge comes back thst would crash this board

Hold on now, are we sure a 1st line winger coming off his ELC is enough to return a bottom pairing defenseman? With no adds?
You’re right, you should probably trade him to a division rival for a very late 1st and a goalie prospect

Nobody wants your junk offers kick rocks bruv. Verbeek doing your team a favor twice will make these even worse.

All those untouchable pieces for Eichel you wouldn’t part with looking real good now.

I think a lot of teams will be offering picks and prospects and Buffalo has both in spades. Maybe that's what he goes for if Adams feels he needs to move him and can't find good nhl ready talent in return, but at that point why move him? Kesselring would actually fill a significant need for Buffalo so that's almost certainly going to be the ask from the Sabres end. Durzi would be an alright acquisition as well, but it wouldn't be for something around Peterka.

Well ideally we stop making dumbass trades, but with Adams at the helm it's probably inevitable.

Oh no, Adams' influence has bled into the fanbase
