Seravalli: Buffalo may not have a choice but to trade Peterka

Buffalo has to be in the playoffs and making strides this coming season. the constant rebuilding and prospect development has to end. Sign who will be very good players and trade for what is needed.

If they trade Byram and Peterka, I don't this is the year either.

Even with those players It's probably not the year.

Who among Toronto, Florida, Tampa, Ottawa, Montreal, Washington, Carolina, NJ,NYR are they better than?

That doesn't even include Boston who I expect to be extremely aggressive because they DO NOT rebuild, they retool and there is a difference

I mean every season is its own microcosm. The Sabres can't afford not to put their best foot forward when it comes to competing in 25-26. Simply listing out a bunch of teams and saying "here - why even try?" seems a little shortsighted.

That's not a surprising development but if you are a Sabres fan it is a devastating one.

Eh, yes and no- we’re still not trading him unless we get an equivalent player, not if management has average levels of cajones. Someone can offer sheet him next summer if it gets there.

But it does suck because I like Peterka, he’s been a bright spot, and I want him to just hold on and have faith in this group, but if your heart ain’t there.. meanwhile his counterpart/buddy Quinn was actually a problem last year, he’s the one I’d want to move, but his value is now shit.

My fear is that if Peterka moves, Thompson or Dahlin soon say “hey man, actually- me too,” when I want these guys doubling down on playoffs. Like- for all the faith Florida has in themselves and their organization, the Sabres seem to have the opposite amount of belief.

Blah. Fire Lindy.

It depends on yhr moves they nake.

They can trade both byram and peterja and nake the playoffs

Assuming no injuries, thr only plsyoff locks j see are Carolina and Florida.

If marner and Tavares go, what does Toronto do? Thry could takr a big step back and change the team and bunch

It all depends where teams are around the deadline and what they do after.

I See many teams all bunched at the Olympic break.

Is Zub still of interest?

It creates a big hole for Ottawa, but the possibility of adding Peterka is hard to ignore with Timmy here.

Florida had talent but added proven talent to win. Buffalo yes trade one of the LD's from a position of strength but no way I move a talented forward like that. Get the players who can drive the bus as the Atlantic will be up for grabs with Boston rebuilding, Toronto probably losing Marner and the others still not there. Detroit needs to get in and Ottawa as well. Not sure there is enough out there to get them there. Habs who knows? Florida will keep what they can but will not have room for everyone.

Is Maccelli + Durzi interesting to Sabres fans?
None of us know what this idiot wants in the GM chair. He'll just take the best perceived offer, which will probably be three assets that aren't playing in the league by the time he's moved up to being team president in a few years.

No problem trading JJP.

If Buffalo is getting back a player of equal talent that is signed it saves the hastle.

Especially if that playere can play defense.
If trading JJP returns a guy who is better than he is, then wouldn’t that mean the player is older?

Or Buffalo adds to JJP. Say someone like Robertson.

I am a big fan of adding to get the better player. I think thats how you build a winner.
