Couldn't disagree with you more here. Yes, he his signed for another 6 years and will be 37 when the contract expires, but $6.25 million for a #1 Dman is criminally low. Heck, the Flames paid Giordano $6 million until he was taken in the expansion draft, and he was 37 at the time, and won a Norris at 35. By the time Weegar gets over 35 his contract will still be a steal with the projected cap increases.
Weegar's contract is a plus, not a negative, and should be for the entire life of the contract as Weegar doesnt really play the style of game you would expect from a player that would decline quickly. He's already not a particularly fast skater, he's just a really smart effective top pairing dman.
