Seravalli: Buffalo may not have a choice but to trade Peterka

They got Thompson in the ROR trade so it's unfair to the Sabres to include both in this fantasy roster but you are forgetting Brandon Hagel so throw Cozens at 3rd line C and put Hagel on the 2nd line wing.

Extraordinary bag fumble by the Sabres giving away so much talent.

Eichel, Thompson, Reinhart, Hagel, Cozens, Peterka, Benson, Dahlin, Power, Byrum, Ullmark should be a cup contender right now.
Yep you are right, didn't do all my homework with this. But yes the point stays same. You cannot just give up that amount of elite talent - And I am sure many would have developed much better with decent coaching too: Cozens, Quinn, perhaps Power, Ristolainen etc..

Eichel
Reinhart
Hagel
Cozens
Ullmark
Peterka
Byrum

Assuming the last 2 come to fruition (obviously nothing is certain), that's just an absurd amount of talent to hemorrhage in a short period of time.
What does cozens have to do with the others listed above him lol??

I guess this is a snarky insinuation that Cozens is a bum who won't go on to be successful elsewhere just like everyone else who leaves Buffalo?

You'd think Sabres fans would stop being so sure of that given your track record.

Cozens is 24, former 7th overall pick, already proven he can score in the NHL with a 31 goal season, 16 points in 21 games down the stretch with a brand new team.

I think he has 30 goal/80 point potential and will eventually be added to the fast growing "used to be a Buffalo Sabre" all-star team.

What does NYR have that realistic would go to Buffalo for Peterka ? Laf ? Trocheck ?
Or would Buffalo rather have Zegras ?

I think Braden Schneider is a good starting point.
I think if JJ is really available and an NHL reay D prospect or young player is preferred, I think the nucks can come out on top.

Willander, Mancini are attractive pieces, especially Willander tho Mancini has been Abbotsford's best Dman in the playoffs so far and I can see why when the mock JT trades started getting floated some rangers fans (not all) wanted to include Schneider over Mancini to the surprise of us nuck fans who had never heard of him. He's very raw where as Willander could step in the top four and pk now and not look out of place.
Then there's the fact they likely wanna ship him out West all things being equal.

I think JJ is imo gonna get the sabres a real nice return but he's a winger at the end of the day so if an RHD is their target and they want a young one that can become a top pairing guy, that does limit things a bit.
God I can't wait till the seasons over and the deals start happening.

My target would be Joel Eriksson Ek or Cirelli.

We need a legit second line center who can handle defensive responsibilities. If Minny would consider Eriksson Ek, I'd love to make that type of deal happen.

Cirelli and Howard for JJP and a pick would be another focus
Aim elsewhere.

That energy and confidence sure wasn't there from opposing teams fans when he was being shopped...he was an overpaid bum living off a career year 2 years ago. Now he's got all the potential in the world!

The difference here is the others you listed had hockey iq...getting traded isn't gonna give cozens that skill. Also lumping him in there is like saying you won the lotto before buying a ticket...hes done nothing since leaving for that assumption but hey...we are gonna see.

Doesn’t make sense for them to deal him.

I’m sure every team would have interest. Is he straight RW? Because if so I can’t see the Flyers being able to offer anything.

Depending how long ago you went to UoT you might not even recognize it. It's turned into a dirty, smelly, sad city now. Homeless all over the place and probably the worst traffic in the country.
It’s still a fantastic city and the homelessness and traffic problem is significantly (like by a LOT) worse in every single American city of a comparable size. It’s far safer than every similarly sized American city too.

Canadians love to hate on our one world class city lol.

We’ve heard that about literally 8 players on the Wild. Brodin, Faber, Spurgeon, JEE, Kaprizov, Foligno, Hartmann, and Boldy are all completely untouchable in any trade.
I literally just referenced Kaprizov as a possibility to be traded of his salary demands get out of hand. Faber, JEE, and Boldy would be the last players to be moved because of either contracts, youth, talent. Hartman and Foligno have NMC's, otherwise they would definitely be up for grabs on the trade market. Spurgeon has a 15 team NTC, which likely has Buffalo on it. Brodin is a possibility to be traded, but as of now he is paired with Faber on the 1st pairing- no one is looking to move him unless it is for something enticing.

Buffalo's needs:

1.) A RHD who can actually play defense and PK
2.) A two-way center
3.) A LHD who can play with Dahlin and soak lots of minutes and play defense

We've got wing prospects coming out the ears....we DON'T need any of those

The wings got you, homie.

1. Justin Holl
2. JT Compher
3. Erik Gustafsson

We’ll also throw in a second. :sarcasm:

Something around Pulock, Pageau, and Romanov for Peterka and Byram?

Romanov-Dahlin
Power-Pulock
Samuelsson-Clifton

Willander?
If you’re interested in a younger guy, he’s probably the best piece you’re gonna get.
I've been thinking this for a bit now. I think most Sabres fans (myself included) want someone more established but Wallinder looks like a really safe bet to be a top 4 defenseman. I do think Vancouver is still adding in any deal centered around those 2 pieces though.

Probably, not sure what else tho, Maybe a player like Joshua who should have a huge bounceback season?
