2022 Cup to Calgary
Calgary Offers:
Oliver Kylington

Buffalo Offers:
Alexander Nylander

Why for Calgary: With Brodie and Giordano both playing left side now, an offensive left-D, even one as immensely talented as Kylington, is a bit redundant. Meanwhile we have no RW prospects or NHLers of note. On the other hand a Gaudreau-Bennett-Nylander line would end up being an elite first line in the NHL while finally giving us a good one-timer on the PP.

Why for Buffalo: With Eichel, Okposo, and Reinhart, it seems top six right-shot forwards are also a position of excess. Meanwhile with Kylington-Ristolainen they could have one of the best top pairs on the planet in the future.

While I would like a player like Kylington in the system, I am not trading a player with Nylander's skill for Kylington. It would require a more highly touted prospect. I would offer someone like Baptiste who is PPG in the A this year and has shown promise at the NHL level (although he maxes out as a 2nd liner).

Dont think something like that would interest the Flames fans.

Isn't A Nylander a RS LW? Or can he play both?

I love Kylington but the value is way off IMO. I wouldn't trade Kylington, and Buffalo isn't going to accept this trade as is.

Your reasoning on Calgary's part is weak. Kylington will likely take another year or two in the AHL and then bottom pairing minutes. That's typically how AHL players get brought up and acclimated

It seems not many people in this thread have actually watched a 2016-17 Stockton Heat game. Kylington is by far the more valuable piece going forward, that will become clear during the WJC where both players will play together. The only reason I would be willing to trade him is because Nylander fits a need better.

You overrate Flames prospects ridiculously. Kylington isn't even close to Nylander.

Why would Buffalo do this?

I would love to have Nylander on the team...

Maybe they would consider if it was Kylington + Andersson, but I still doubt they'd do it.

Is this a joke? Nylander is FAR more valuable than Kylington. He's top 5 pick in many drafts.

He may carry a higher pedigree but I'm not sold on him being that much better of a prospect. He has the skill to be that high of a pick but he lacks the overall game and is a little soft and one dimensional for my liking. I'm not sold on him being much more than a bottom end 1st liner to a solid 2nd liner. I'd rather keep a smooth skating, two way dman like Kylington than Nylander. Not to say Nylander doesn't carry value, just not someone I'd be willing to give up Kylington for, and definitely not Kylington and Andersson. I won't be disappointed to not have him at the higher price.

No that's insane. Andersson is a beast. Kylington is still a bonehead according to Kisker (Heat play by play guy). Andersson is a much better prospect than OK IMO. He's going to be a stud. OK has potential but he's still very flawed.

Either way Calgary would be adding on their end

I'm not so sure about that. I think people underrate what Kylington has looked like in his time in the AHL. Nothing against Nylander but those kinds of pieces can be found, quality dmen aren't as easy to come by. Especially ones with the skating ability like Kylington has.

Mangiapane for Keller?

Gaudreau for Huberdeau? Dougie Hamilton? Nugent-Hopkins? Anyone in the 2011 draft with the exception of a few? Had someone in 2012 suggested that kind of deal or season or two removed from a draft it would get the same reaction as your post will ilicit.

This is exactly why prospect proposals are pointless on here. Everyone thinks their own prospects are the greatest and have no clue about other teams. On top of that, they have proven ZERO at the NHL level so Andrew Mangiapane is just a good a prospect as Clayton Keller. In fact, he is producing at the AHL level so i'll take him at this point.

Is this like how "Huska said he questions if Klimchuk will score at the next level at all" except the actual interview had nothing of the sort and it was not even Huska being interviewed? Your favoritism/selective hearing is at it again. Kisker not once called Kylington anything resembling a "bonehead".

If both players hit their potential you are talking about a PPG winger vs. an OEL type dman - but we all know forwards tend to project a little more easily than Dmen. The risk on Nylander being an NHL player is lower thank Kylington.

Many people think Nylander could possibly be on the team as soon as the end of this season. Lets not take that lightly. You dont find players with Nylander's natural ability on trees.

No it was there during the game that was broadcast on Saturday night.. Kisker is not a fan of OK. And I haven't heard Huska mention him in multiple interviews I've heard at work. Where he heaps praise on Andersson, Mangiapane, and Jankowski.

I will say that I have watched Kylington in the AHL and he seems to be substantially better than 60th overall in the 2015 draft would lead you to believe, with his talent and skating it seems like he should of been taken in the middle-ish portion of the 1st round. Though assuming Buffalo would trade Nylander taken 8th overall in the most recent draft a few months ago for him, seems entirely outlandish.

Kylington was also touted a top 5 pick in his respective draft before "attitude problems"

Either way Calgary would be adding on their end

Kylington reminds me far too much of Brodie and I was glad the Flames took their time with him. I would be in no rush to deal Kylington outside of an overpayment that Trevliving couldn't say no to.
