  • HFBoards is doing server maintenance Thursday March 13th at 9 AM GMT 5 AM EDT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.
He was right there. Can't ask a dman to do much more. Stopped guy from getting to net. Goalie has clear view of a point shot...

By no means is it an easy play at that speed, but as a defenseman you can't give up the middle of the ice there. Better play would be to come back under control and force him wide.

And ugh they got us on the PP... McLeod got burned trying to bolt the zone early

And now a Norris goal! Wow, high scoring!

Benson, who never gives up, feeds Norris, who hasn’t had his will beaten out of him yet, for the late goal.

Almost literally couldn’t have been anyone else after allowing three straight

Power can make an outlet pass in the o-zone, drive to net but he just can't do the most simple things defensively like box out.

A reminder: they are 100% running this back next season.

Yep. And still not spending. Didn't use their cap space for picks. Didn't retain on Jokiharju to juice return. Same sh*t and season 15 coming. I think it's even possible the assistant coaches stick.

I think all but Appert have deals run out this year. So there is hope.

how can the team ever expect to win when they are giving up 3 goals in the first period to Detroit.........
What in the last several years has given you the impression they ever expect to win?

Can anyone on here comment about some of the defenceman in Rochester? Johnson I have seen a bit but has his game grown? Also Novikov who I followed since junior but not so much this year.Has he progressed to the point where he can possibly fight for a roster spot next year?

Feels like Benson is one of those players where things will start to click and the points start coming. He does everything right except get points.

Some of them could be interesting future options on the third pairing. Novikov is probably closer than not IMO - flashes some good mobility and ability to move a puck crisply, but his bread and butter is playing hard defense around the crease and the walls. Johnson is their top matchup guy from my viewing, very steady, very heady... super boring in the way you might not notice he's there but you don't notice the other team either. Unlike last year, they are using him on LD exclusively this year after trying hard to see if he could play his off-hand side last year (and then on his recalls). But with how terrible Buffalo plays team defense, I don't know how these guys will make a difference. The problems are so often how shit the forwards are at being back that I don't know how shuffling bottom pairing D around will improve that. The forwards need to commit to being good in front of their own netminder and in their own zone instead of whatever crap they've practice since Granato took over and encouraged them to fly the zone too soon.

commentator said Buffalo has the best goal differential in the league for the 1st period.

They fall apart in the second period.

They are one of the best scoring teams in the 1st period in the NHL, yes. 72 goals for in the first leads all teams going into tonight. They are the 2nd worst GA in the 2nd and 4th worst GA in the third in the league.
