Buffalo has plenty of picks & prospects they can deal between now and next fall to fill that void, and could even incorporate a 3rd team if they are insistent on not taking futures from Tampa. Sabres are poorly run and generally don't appeal to established players. Assuming this season is lost, you can't always get what you want. A valuable offer, even if it doesn't include more proven pieces, can still be worthwhile.

It really depends on whether or not Tuch would extend, because if you wait until next year's deadline he would almost certainly be traded for futures anyway. If he says "let's see if we can make a run next year and I might stick around" then by all means keep the guy.
I expect Tuch extended in the summer

If he's not --then you could see him traded

Buffalo needs are middle 6 center and mid pair RD

I am concerned with Cernaks contract term and his age makes him a no to me

Why not? We haven’t made the playoffs since he has been here. Surely not his fault but if we aren’t listening to any trade proposals when we haven’t made the playoffs in 14 years….and if he’s not interested in extending.
You cant talk until july 1.

Unless he says something on not resigning hes not being moved ih nkesd it's in a major trade, not a magic beans trade

If Tampa traded 2 1st for Hagel and what they did for Jeannot. Tuch would cost 4 1sts and then some

Why can’t they talk? It’s not tampering.

And the rest is just nonsense.

Hagel was much younger, cheaper, and they could work with him long term. Tuch will be 30 when/if he hits free agency next summer, and his AAV could be closer to double what he makes now. Not even remotely the same.

I'm sure Buffalo would love good proven players, but a 1st plus a high level prospect and maybe a secondary asset is closer to what it would take. Sabres fans don't like hearing that, but it's much more consistent with history than these absurd mentions of players like Cirelli or 4 first round picks.

Different times will obviously be reflected in the ask.... if there is a point next year where he doesn't want to re-sign then yes..the ask will probably change and Sabres will have to look at getting assets for him no matter what.

But we are here today..and Buffalo is under no pressure to capitulate to these types of offers. Right here..today we are not trading him for futures.. come back in a year.

Lightning fans asking what it would take

Sabres fans say we are not trading him but if you offered this then maybe

Lightning fans then say we won’t give that so you won’t be getting that. Looks like you don’t really want to trade him

Sabres fans exactly

This thread screams Elias Pettersson, senior not junior.

Otherwise, Vancouver has Chytil, Suter and/or Blueger that can be a good 2C.

Any interest in any of them?

As beerz said and f I said before...

He I'd not a UFA to be. he can get resigned in the summer and likely does.

If hes not resigned then he probably gets traded for picks_/prospects or young ELCs from a team that actually has them

What about the Kings with something centered around Spence? Doughty and Clarke make him a reasonable roster player to move.
