Proposal: Buf/TB Cirelli for Peterka

If players don’t like it, they can negotiate an NTC that starts right away. That tradeable window is is negotiated for by the team for a reason.

Not true, at least not in this case. Players can only get NTC during UFA years. He wasn’t eligible for NTC until 7/1/25.

Ehhhhhhhhh not really Hronek is good but he’s not ELITE enough defensively to justify a career high of sub 10 goals at that cap hit.

Honestly I’m finding it slightly harder to think he’s a TRUE 2C. Maybe a 2.5. He doesn’t drive play/facilitate very well. Not saying he has to be an 80 point guy but his offensive impact when he’s not finishing well is a little underwhelming. Especially in the playoffs. And I love AC

Trading Paul is unlikely to net us value or cap space to get anyone good. I just think Cirelli is either expendable or not quite established enough of a 2C with plenty of opportunities to do so. His only good offensive year coincided with Hagel putting up 90. I don’t think it’s that crazy to say Paul could score like 5 more goals and double his assist totals playing more minutes and with Hagel.

And neither does this trade. In fact, Tampa loses cap space here after paying JJP some overpriced number no doubt, and then there is no room for any real 2C. You act as though Cirelli isn't a 2C, which he is, but Nick Paul is suddenly going to do just fine in the role...The trade makes absolutely no logical sense for Tampa, as Peterka is another luxury, not any need that is going to make the team better if losing Cirelli is the cost. If JBB really wants to move Cirelli in this kind of trade to actually improve the team moving forward/looking to the future, he should be looking at a dman that makes less than Cirelli and that can help a unit that is facing some key players getting up there in age. This would also actually provide them with some additional space as well to maybe add someone who could somewhat fill in at 2C. Cirelli for Peterka is bad in many different ways, and it doesn't help the team in any area they need it.
