Buffalo needs quality NHL players with vet experience Main package will be Quinn, 25 1st and samuellsson
Stl: Buffalo package for kyrou and parayko
Utah: Buffalo package for schmaltz and kesserling
NSH: Forsberg and skej
Quinn is struggling this year and has immense talent along with Nashville, Utah and stl also struggling looking at top 10 picks Quinn would be a good edition for a young core he could grow with Cooley or be one of the main staples in the blues top six while those teams shed cap while Sammy is also young and provides great defense buffalo is overloaded with left handed defenseman and is signed for 4 mil plus and with Quinn on rfa status would hardly cost either team any cap and the first to get it done. Quinn Sammy and a first feels like fair value especially to a rebuilding team for some vets

I'm not sure Quinn's value is high right now until he starts scoring. On the other hand, our pool prospects is full and could be used in a deal.

yeah... no. Now if you want to talk about Samuellsson I'd be hesitant but would listen due to injuries. But you aren't getting Kyrou and Parayko for that Package.
Maybe something around Samuelsson or Jokiharju for Faulk?

Don't forsee the Blues entertaining trading Parayko. Could see them entertain trading Kyrou - but I don't think it would be futures based, and it's still highly unlikely.

I'm not sure where Samuellson would be a fit with the Blues going forward at this time unless Leddy were moved, and realistically I think I'd rather have Leddy right now given the contract situations.

I guess if the Blues were adamant about trading Kyrou for some reason Quinn and the 1st would be an alright base, but I don't see exactly what it would accomplish.

I'd be tempted to just give you Skjei... but I'm willing to see what he looks like with a different coach before I judge him toooooo harshly I guess. Anyway, NMCs probably aren't going to allow Nashville to trade very many guys. Schenn, Lauzon, Sissons, Nyquist are the ones that are more moveable.

Kesselring is a 24 year old 6'4, 215 pound RHD with a blistering shot and just emerging as a legit regular D. UHC are keeping him.

this package looks like they are for one of the other player. NOT both as many people have stated. STL has zero incentive to trade Kyrou. You'd have to offer someone you'd normally deem untouchable to get that conversation going like swap out Power for Samuelsson? NO? that reaction you just felt is the same one STL fans feel about being asked for Kyrou. Empathy.

Is there an interpreter here?

Zero points for punctuation.

Punctuation changes "eats shoots and leaves" to "eats, shoots, and leaves."

I'm probably more willing to trade Kyrou than Parayko but the trade has to make sense and not happen just for the sake of it.

They don’t have to bring in “star” quality veterans. They need to bring in the “right type” of veterans. If they’re stars, even better. They need to bring in “true professionals” or “pro’s pros.” Not exactly confused with Jordan Kyrou. He’s the last type of veteran presence they’d want to target.

Ottawa has made that commitment this year. Let’s see if it pays off. Unfortunately for them, you can’t have your new star goaltender, leaking an .870 save % in 9 of 12 starts. They also might have a similar issue that Buffalo has. Too many of their so-called star youngsters, are already set in their ways. So OTT bringing in Jensen and Perron, might only be a step towards fixing that locker room, and helping the Sens grow into winners.

It may take some time for teams like Buffalo, Columbus and Ottawa, to mix those professionals around their already established young players. It’s also to help the kids just coming up too though. So you wanna get it done ASAP. It’s why Columbus signed Monahan. They now have a manager who understands development, is actually more important than drafting. Having a Monahan helps younger players develop. Allowing them to marinate in the AHL, but also to play with better players, when they actually do get to the NHL. That 4th rounder who develops, may never have developed being a 2nd rounder on another team. Or 1st rounders never develop fully because they’re playing in the NHL too early. It happens all the time.

Detroit and Chicago took a different route than Buffalo, Ottawa, etc. It’s working in Detroit, we’ll see in Chicago, as they’re still just really starting their process.

Detroit is copying what he did in Tampa. After making a whole lot of draft choices, they signed a bunch of professional type players, who actually help their young players develop. First by just being on the NHL roster, allowing those kids to marinate more in the AHL or Europe. Not being forced onto the NHL roster too early, but also again, when those kids do start arriving, they’re not thrown to the wolves. They’re surrounded by actual NHL players. Not other developing players or AHL quality players.

Kids like Kasper and Edvinsson have been much better this season because they didn’t have to play in the NHL last year, or even the previous season. Then when they did arrive, they’ve been put in more of a position to succeed. Surrounded by professional type players.

St Louis has been great at this for years. Dallas too. Having their youngsters surrounded by good, professional NHL players. Allowing them to develop at their own pace, without all the crazy pressure we’ve seen put on kids in places like Ottawa, Columbus and Buffalo.

Unfortunately that’s not where Buffalo is at today. They need to make moves like Utah made, getting Ollie Maatta. True professional type players, who’ve been through it all. The pressure of being a big time prospect, all the ups and downs, etc. Now being a great role model type for young players. A guy they’ll respect in many ways.

It’s not that Buffalo hasn’t tried signing or trading for some vets. They’ve just not been the right types.

None of those young Dmen are gonna be listening to Connor Clifton much. Guys like Greenway and McLeod aren’t there to help Zach Benson develop. Zucker and Tuch can’t be the only vets the younger guys look up to.

They’re literally ruining Zach Benson as we all watch. He’s not developing. Yea great, he made NHL money last year and learned what? Nothing he did last season, has prepared him for this season, and the poor kid is basically on an island by himself. He’d be in a much better place, if he’d returned to JR last year, and then used this year, to learn to be a pro. Playing 30-40 games and doing conditioning stints in the AHL.

Meanwhile a kid like Marco Kasper at 20, is playing with Tarasenko every night, and he’ll be playing with Kane when 88 returns.. Not to mention having a Compher and Copp around to help him develop. If he’s struggling, Compher can switch back to 2C. The kid is exceeding expectations every night now, because he’s been able to do it at his own pace. The points are starting to come the last 10 games. Tonight, Ray Ferraro even commented on how good he didn’t know Marco Kasper is/was at only 20 years old.

Meanwhile Benson is lost. Pretty much will have wasted two years of development. We’ve seen it way too many times in places like Buffalo.

Would a Parayko help?

100%. He’s the type they should be trying to add. But it could be a Cam Fowler, for much cheaper instead. Talk about a “pro’s pro.” Cam might be the most “professional” player in the league.

People have ripped Seattle for handing that contract to Stephenson, but Francis signed him to be one of those great vets, you want your kids around. By the time their kids have taken over their rosters, Chicago and Detroit will have no money being paid to these placeholder type veterans. The Copp, Compher, Martinez, Brodie or Foligno’s of the world.

The draft geeks will complain those teams missed out on 3-4 better draft positions, by having these types of players, but that’s about as short-sighted as you can be, when it comes to developing your prospects. Good bet, those teams will have more 3rd-7th rounders on their rosters, making a difference every night. Not to mention kids drafted 10th to 15th overall, outproducing kids drafted ahead of them. Nobody cares where Kyrou, Thomas, Robertson or Johnson were drafted in Dallas and St Louis.

On sites like this, none of this stuff is talked about enough. Even though it’s a big part of how teams rebuild the proper way. Buffalo is no longer in their so-called “rebuild.” They should absolutely be shifting into a “retool” already though. There’s enough talent to win lots of games over the next decade. Develop it properly.

They may have to overpay a player or two, or even lose a trade on paper. Swapping one of their younger prospects/players for a veteran presence. Like they did with McLeod.

Brock Nelson would be a great addition for example. Buffalo had scouts in Montreal tonight to watch the Islanders. The wonders a guy like Nelson could do for a team like Buffalo, cannot be talked about enough. You bring him in, Thompson and Cozens get better too.

If you added a Brock Nelson and Cam Fowler during this season, the Sabres likely make the playoffs. Then you make sure they stick around, and add another 2 of those “pro’s pros” I’ve mentioned next summer. You’ll have a really quality team. One that can then let kids marinate more, and by the time Fowler leaves, that D-Core will be as good as anyone. Not just on prospect paper like it is today, but in reality. A kid like Benson could spend all of next season in the AHL, and regain a lot of development he’s likely lost being stapled to the bench.

The Sabres have moves to make, but they need to make sure it’s the right players they’re bringing in. They have plenty of ammunition in their system, to make the right moves. It’s up to them, to now make those moves AND convince those vets Buffalo is the place to be.

They do that, they’re a winning team for the next decade.

Man, Benson was one of our best players, yet he got hurt early in the season and played on our worst line most of the time.
