Confirmed Trade: [BUF/PIT] Colton Poolman for Bennett MacArthur

Why trade an AHLer for a guy who isn’t even more than a depth piece at the ECHL level? Buffalo saves like 100k in salary is about the only thing I can come up with.

Edit: I see they got Joshua, so that’s probably the actual move, but he’s on an AHL deal so MacArthur’s just keeping the NHL contracts even

From the main boards it cuts off at B- for a moment I was worried we’d traded Byram for absolutely nothing. Instead it’s nothing for nothing, so a win!

When all other alternatives are eliminated, Occam’s razor says Pegula is just a cheap rich man. All the other billionaires laugh at him, and the regular folks can’t stand him. All that ego, and zero worth as an actual human.

Joshua was actually pretty solid for WBS last year, but WBS is just asininely deep at forward so he hasn't been able to get a chance at playing. The Penguins ECHL affiliate Wheeling is one of the top ECHL teams simply because of how much should-be AHL forwards they have.

Neither of Poolman or MacArthur have ever played an NHL game. MacArthur is playing in the ECHL this season, even though he's on an expiring NHL contract.

Joshua isn't even on an NHL contract. He's spent time this year in the ECHL, but it looks like he's been in the AHL with WBS at the time of the trade.

A true minor-league deal, if ever there was one.

Football is apparently expensive in terms of cash outlay, so the Sabres are being stripped the the bone. Pegula is a moron, and is a fatally flawed character out of a Greek tragedy about the Dunning-Kruger effect.

He had immense success by being at the right place at the right time (having a head start to take advantage of PA fracking boom). Now he has used his gains to destroy a hockey franchise and a ridiculously loyal fan base.

And Rochester is just as asininely deep on defense, so Poolman hasn't been playing.

You ok? lol

The WBS Penguins defensemen are absolutely murdered with injuries right now, so the move makes sense from that POV. Not sure what this does for Buffalo though, MacArthur is just a kinda shitty ECHLer.

Okay that makes a lot more sense, Rochester is also getting an AHL contract with this deal.

Weirdly, the Amerks have been very healthy and Poolman - while good when he's played - hasn't been needed. Most years, they have ridiculous injury issues but so far -- knocking wood -- they've been fairly healthy. They also have Noah Laaouan down in the ECHL who played most of their preseason games as an extra body who hasn't even seen a hint of Rochester yet. Figure this is more WBS needing a body and Poolman's been the spare and gets to play.

I wonder if Buffalo is trying to shuffle some forwards and that's why they brought in two minor league bodies if they are using AHL guys in trade (or have to promote after a 2-for-1 type deal at the NHL level).

I can honestly say I’ve never heard of these players. Hope it works out for all involved.

Now do a trade with NHLers

I had to do a double take. I read this as Clark MacArthur and forgot he existed.
