Confirmed with Link: [BUF/OTT] Dylan Cozens, Dennis Gilbert, and 2026 2nd for Josh Norris and Jacob Bernard-Docker

I know it's premature and I'm watching meaningless hockey, but the Bernard-Docker part of this trade is looking like sleeper value. He seems to fit well with a lot of different D on the roster, and seems like he could play in any of the pairings. He's already pushed Bryson to #7 (not a tough feat), is better than Gilbert by a good mile (sorry to say) and all of a sudden I am not that concerned about an injury in the top 4.

I like Sammy's play lately, but honestly, if he's not going to bring that physical edge, he's the odd man out in my book and the stretch he's had at the end this year may actually make him tradable.

He was a first round pick which means he had the potential in college hockey. I don't know much about him since he was an Ottawa prospect but he has looked good so far.

Seen it said he should be a competent 3rd pair D at the very least.

Why did they move on from him? Was it Adam's actually addressing a need? The Ottawa top 6 doesn't exactly blow you out of the water.

Hr didnt push bryson.
Its ejy they signed bryson to dag ee arent benching upu but we are going to play JBD to evaluate him

I r said before one of Sam, Power, byram is likely traded

Numbers....

They have Zub and Jensen are right shot RD. They have an RFA RD in Matinpalo and that is before factoring in chabot playing on the right side

in 2024 they drafted RD Yakumchuk at #7 in 1st round in WHL who turns 20 before jan 1 so he would be with Ottawa or AHL next year

And JBD is arbitration eligible RFA if he is given a QO

Buffalo is going to be very close to next years cap after signing RFAs. They might not QO him but still sign him to something like $1.3M for one yr to avoid arbitration

And also because the Sens previous GM was stupid enough to give Hamonic a NMC, which probably factored in being forced to give up one our RHD this season. JBD has great defensive IQ, and is mobile enough that I think he's going to be a useful player for the Sabres.

I can see him having the mirrored trajectory that Joki had when he arrived here. Show up, play well for a certain period of time, then start to fall in bad habits and start to deteriorate in quality of play because this coaching staff sucks holding players accountable/correcting mistakes.

Other factor is tjr prcking order of prosodcts...

He was a late 1st in 2018
2019 they draft another RD in Thomson in late teens
They acquire 2017 1st barnstorm who was a late term sd pick and a big piece in tthe Stone trsde
In 2020 they draft Sanderson at 5th OA

Who gets the first chance for ice time based on eherr dtafted/ how acwuired.

Another factor us sd similarities in other players and style. Teans usually want a different style of Dman.

Then you have GM change and that was not my guy so I'll pass him over for my guys.

This season don’t matter, let’s let Norris get healthy then judge him next year

Cozens helps senators more this year because they are in playoff push and he is healthy. Norris would not have been as valuable

If we are lucky, maybe Norris is better next year.

The problem is he's not healthy, he's never been healthy and he never will be healthy. And on top of it his contract is a far bigger cap albatross than Cozens as well.

His contract will cost Pegula north of 7 million dollars more in actual cash over the course of his deal, even though the cumulative cap hit over that time frame will amount to a little over 4.4 million (excluding this season). Hopefully the lifestyle can weather the additional cash drain.

Honestly any amount of money that's taken away from billionaires is good thing.
