I totally disagree, help our wingers? Do we have problems with 5v5 production? No, of course he is not a playmaker, but he ticks the boxes for other things, improve PP, PK, simpler play, faceoffs, play on defense.

I always liked Norris as a player, for me the only question was his health. I think he suits us, find your 1C playmaker in the draft.

As for the trade time, maybe there would be more options in the summer, but on the other hand, we could do worse. I think we got a good 2C.

Look, Adams sucks and needs to go, but I fine this deal (except for that add 2nd). I also really didn't like Dylan Cozens and after the Tampa game I wanted him gone.

I'll check back in on you in a year

Still a stupid time to do it. Should of waited till offseason. Probably shouldn't have targeted a player from a probable playoff team who was actively shopping him all over the league. Norris isn't the type of center we need. Does nothing to help our wingers.

Just another Adams failure.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I go into the offseason assuming Adams does next to nothing. Maybe he’ll shock. But adding Norris only works if its followed by more big moves to keep changing the core group.

At least he acknowledged that Power needs a partner... after three years. Whether he will add one or not, I'm not sure. I think this is the last year of his contract and he will have to do something to fix it. But I think we needs more than just a partner for Power.

Here's how this works...

Adams does something you don't like, someone else likes it, in all likelihood it won't work out and we'll miss the playoffs again next year.

Adams gets replaced by a different GM. Repeat the first two with a different name.

Playing the "we'll see whose right when we miss the playoffs next year" card is just comically naive at this point. Guess what... it's been 14 years. All roads end with missing the playoffs.

And now we shouldn't trade for such players, especially centers, where the market is very limited for us? I hope I don't need to remind you how "well" Cozens played the last two seasons and why his value has fallen so much in two years.
Its interesting you are against Kevyn Adams but not his trades.

I want Adams away from this team. Not making trades for the new GM to fix.

Because I try to be objective and give my opinion specifically on this deal. That Adams is an idiot is still there. But specifically on this deal I think it's not bad. Because I also wasn't very high on Cozens.

Along with Adams' other problems, my complaint about him is often that he doesn't do anything, here he did something at TDL, but my opinion about his firing hasn't changed at all, although he probably won't be fired.

Would it make people feel better if I made up a fake hit total for Norris like the Ottawa scorekeeper did for Cozens?

Josh Norris set a new league record with eleventy-five billion hits yesterday.

It’s just as true as the 9 in Ottawa

I had no problem with the Cozens for Norris trade… the adding a 2nd round pick bothered me. That’s the equivalent of adding Anton Wahlberg to Cozens to get Norris. I am hoping this works out for the Sabres in the long run. It is what it is now.

"If" Bernard-Docker turns into something it would make the 2nd easier. But I hear what your saying.

Or it's the equivalent of adding Aleksandr Kisakov. Or Marcus Davidsson.

2nd rounders are at best 50/50 propositions. At best.

I didn't like that we added a 2nd. But.....we needed to do SOMETHING to shake the room up. We'll see if it works.

I agree about the trade but why we added a 2nd baffles me.

At first I thought it was for the RD, but he's not worth a second. Sabres are kings of the overpay. Every time.

I had no idea you worked as the scorer in Sunrise in the late '90's.

Just a FYI, JBD's most success he's seen was when he was paired with Chabot. An excellent transition Dman who has strong passing in every zone. Power is also a strong transition Dman who has better offense than Chabot. That being said, Chabot is far more intelligent than Power, so we'll see if JBD can cover up for Power's deficiencies there.

Well they can try him with Power but I don't have high expectations, I just hope he can be a decent third pair guy.

Thank you for not slandering our sweet baby boy, Eric Cornel.
It still tilts me so hard how badly we bricked that 2014 2nd and 3rd round. Brayden Point and his 91pt WHL season just sitting there while we take Brendan Lemieux, Erik Cornel, Vaclav Karabacek, Jonas Johansson and Brycen Martin. The Sabres got a total of 13 NHL games out of those five players and every one of them are JJ.

30 other teams did not take Point in the first round.

Power is intelligent, especially offensively ... but agreed that his defensive IQ is a WIP and his lack of aggression exposes him, especially against teams that crash the net well.

Well let's hope JBD's good defensive IQ (Albeit not great) can help him out and vice versa.
I have to assume they'll try anything and everything the rest of the way ... or at least that's my hope. I certainly don't need Buffalo going on a tear with a top 3-5 draft pick in sight, but it'd be nice to see if that pairing can work.
