Selling off late-20-something players for prospects is the path to staying in this same rut. They need more good players in that 26-32 range, not less.
Did I say trade someone? I'm saying the opposite, why waste Dahlin, Thompson and Tuch's prime time for nothing. I'm saying the opposite, improve the roster with the same players so that Dahlin, Thompson and Tuch can make the playoffs. I'm here on this board advocating for trades for players like Weegar and Pettersson, why would I trade Thompson.

I said players are getting old (and Adams wasting their time), that doesn't mean I want to sell them.

On the contrary, I want to add players aged 26-32 to Dahlin, Thompson and Tuch, and not sell them, this is some kind of confusion.

Wow, captain return.

But Adams still needs to be fired; quite often, by the way, people are fired after win.
I've harped about wanting to see more from Dahlin, and still do. He has the talent to be a perennial Norris candidate.

But the Sabres are a different team with him in the lineup. Absolutely stellar game last night. More of that please.

Unfortunately, no one is immune from injuries.

Power trying to get traded home to Toronto lol
We keep forgetting Power just turned 22, and how long it takes most d-men to mature in this league.

That said, I want way more from him in the d-zone. He doesn't have to be Pronger. Just stay between your man and the net, and use that big frame. Tie up sticks. This is d-man play 101. Should be second nature to him by now. Coach him up.

All of those defensive zone things are not things that he does. He didn’t do that well in Chicago or in Michigan and certainly not in Buffalo. It feels like they need an assistant coach who can get in his ear, gain his confidence, and produce results. But everything that’s lacking in his game now is the same stuff that’s been lacking since before he was drafted.

He needs to have a willingness to do that tough things to win and right now he doesn’t look like he has “it” in him.

Good reminder and keeping it civil. Merry Christmas!

Let's hope a young dog can soon learn tricks he should have mastered already.

Just from a talent side without contract implications.
Would you rather keep Bryam or Power cause I think they have to move on from one to make the D work.

That's a tough one. I lean a bit toward Power since at this point I don't know how to put what's missing into his game. Byram is usually mistakes of commission. Power makes mistakes of omission. *shrug* And that's even with the fancy stats and such.

Power is such a weird one. I feel like he's great at zone exits and defending 2 on 1 breaks, with above average offensive instincts. But beyond that, I'm not sure what he brings to the table.

I'd honestly shop both and see what offer comes through that I think helps the team the most.

That's where I am, shop both and see what we can get. Although we have to be careful with Byram and find out his real plans, as he doesn't have a contract yet.

How is Byrum's value compared to Jiricek ?
Watch Adams hold on to him until the deadline and get a 2nd round pick. :D

There is no point in us trading Byram for futures. Byram should be more valuable than Jiricek, he is already an established and one might say experienced player, although he is only 23 years old. The second round for him would be simply ridiculous.

Beyond the Wall
The Islanders crew pointed it out on numerous occasions. The Sabres blocked a lot of shots and the bench was hooping/hollering after every one of them.

If Lindy can get them to buy-in like that:

1. We still have a chance.
2. Why did it take so long for the team to do it?
3. Merry Christmas
For some people motivation can be hard to find until you hit rock bottom. Hard to find a lower bottom than a 13 game losing streak to last in the NHL in a season when you were expected to compete for a playoff spot.
