And it's only a 1 year deal we don't expect him to replace skinner offense we got him to be reasonably better defensively with a chance at an offensive touch. He could very well bounce back had a 46% ozs and the year before had a positive corsica he could score 12+ goals and chip in anywhere from 35-40 points while providing good defense the expectation is that the young guys keep improving and that Thompson and tuch both bounce back for a full year and hopefully we can be healthy.
If the Sabres get 70+ games out of Zucker, they'll get 20+ goals.

Zucker was pretty decent for the Preds after we picked him up at the TDL. He can definitely play in the league and chip in 15-20 goals. We were thinking he's a guy we wouldn't mind bringing back, just at a much much lower AAV... like $2.5-3M maybe. At that rate you can't really complain. $5M is too much for the player he is, but flip side if you're going to be way under the Cap anyway, which it seems now like the Sabers will be... who really cares if the team spends $2M too much? :dunno:

Seems like they could have just kept Skinner for 1 more year. They have the cap and he offers more to the team than Zucker. I thought they would use that money for something more impactful.

Probably valid about cap but this is like exhibit X around the league for how dysfunctional Sabres are and how bad they are on contracts

Someone - possibly Jason Zucker's agent - created and posted a video showing each of the 27 goals Zucker scored in 2022-23, as a Penguin. Love the fact that he has a shoot-first inclination, and is quite willing to go to (and in to) the opposition net. Put him on the powerplay!
