Ekholm is severely overrated by Oilers fans who havent seen a real defenseman since Pronger.

You can argue the times he got walked by Marchand and Reinhart were the flashy back breaking goals the Panthers needed to win this Cup. Zero chance a real dman lets those dangles by him.

Every single Buffalo fan has been against this yet you post this trash. It’s a very bad offer for one of the teams and shocking that team is not the one you cheer for.

Only thing I see here for BUF is Ekholms nationality. I don't think Oilers will look for a LHD if trading Ekholm considering they already have Nurse, Walman, Kulak etc at LD.
They would swap him for a goalie or top 4 RHD.

From BUF I would be more interested in Peterka than Power. Gives Draisaitl a quality young winger instead of plugs like Kapanen and Podkolzin.

There's a legit case that Power will be better than Ekholm next season. Not even taking into account the upside in Power and the reality that Ekholm has maybe 2 seasons left before retirement.

IDK what Edmonton could offer to pry Peterka that other team's wouldn't beat. Sabres aren't a fit for Bouchard, they aren't going to want Nurse.

Not good trading partners

He was hurt a lot this year. I don't know if that is an age thing or not - it could be, but I think its premature to say that he's aged a lot in the last 18 months. He was dynamite for the entire 23/24 season, he just hurt himself in training camp and never fully recovered.

I see why teams wouldn't want to trade for a 34 year old defenseman though.

I don't think either team does it to be honest. The only way the Oilers need Power, is if they are planning to move Bouchard, but if we brought in Power, we would need someone like Ekholm to mentor him anyway, to hopefully help Power round out his game. For Buffalo, they would have to be very confident that the missing piece is an Ekholm type player. But Buffalo has too many holes to dump a high caliber young player for a veteran.

A team like Buffalo who has missed the playoffs 14 straight years do stuff like this? No. Teams that are on the cusp do trades like this and still there’s no way a player like power would be the return. I could see an actual organization trade for him but then again I think he’s okay in Edmonton? Probably came back early

Peterka would be the ideal top six winger to add for sure. Our top six would be set with Nuge-McD-Hyman and Kane-Drai-Peterka. The bottom six still needs some work, Podkolzin - ??? - Frederic as 3rd line looks likely moving forward, and Henrique and Janmark are locked up as 4th liners, but we need a couple of good phyiscal players to add to that lineup.

Did you read my entire post? I think you missed the part where I wrote "I don't think either team does this". I didn't once advocate for Buffalo making this trade.

We sadly dont have much to offer for Peterka and not sure how we would fit him under cap long term.
Wishful thinking mostly but yeh, would certainly prefer him over Power.

To be fair no one has a clue as to what BUF is doing. Why would they even think about trading Power or even Peterka is beyond me.

Absolutely not from Buffalo and I'm lower on Power than most Sabres fans. Value is nowhere close. Ekholm has one year left on his deal and was the Oilers worst skater in the SCF although I realize he was coming back from injury.

He is still 35 though and as a fan of neither team I can't see why Buffalo would even consider this.
