For those that followed the team through the dark ages, making the playoffs in never not meaningful.
Absolutely. We're not far removed from a time when we would have been fine if Washington swept us because we were actually in the effing playoffs. Just look on the other side of the ice tonight as the Sabres try to pretend these games matter to them at all. Many of us lived that for a long ass time.

We're trying to forget.

almost 3 years to the date:

I know we discussed this in another thread a couple of days ago but I still have the DVR recording (lol) of this game and will occassionally watch on a rainy day or something. It's probably aside from the Cup runs and 2009, one of my top 5 favorite moments in being a fan of this team. All that frustration and disappointment went bye-byes that night. And Petrs post-game interview w/ Mike was his lips to the fans ears.

Watching ESPN+ post-game, there HAS to be some hockey version of Tony Romo, or someone who can at least give something other than bland cliches. I expect "get pucks deep, get back to our game, believe in our system" from players trained to default to the same tired bromides when they're exhausted after 60 minutes of windsprints and body blows, not from people paid for their expertise in stickpuck! /rant

At least Don Cherry had opinions and was entertaining, if a dinosaur...

Couldn't have been a better person for that interview. Petr captured the emotions perfectly.
