Another power play with too many passes. And The Blues can't even hold onto the puck, or make clean passes when open and all alone, even with the extra man. I could see the way they were skating that they just didn't have it tonight. But, I thought that after scoring those 3 goals at the end of The 2nd, that they might get one or two points as a gift. But, it wasn't to be.

TNT loves talking about the Rangers. Something tells me if we won they would still talk about the Rangers.

Blues are an after thought. We didn't help out our case tonight.

idk i thought the rangers were shitty tbh. blues carried most of the play but they passed up so many shots. the game came down to a fluke power play and some soft goals on husso. it happens.
agreed , i keep hearing "be selfish" but it seems like they are always trying to force the pass

Husso wasn't great, for sure, but The Blues lost because they played with a lot less energy than The Rangers did. They just didn't have it tonight. Even the gift of 3 quick goal at the end of The 2nd couldn't give them enough momentum to come out early in The 3rd and dictate the play. I assume that Binnington will play the next game, and Husso will follow with the second game of that back-to-back. I hope both play well.

Passing was not good tonight. I think a lot of it had to do with how non-chalant we were when the puck was on our stick and it caused us to force plays.

I thought the few power plays that i saw were really weak. Do the Rangers have that good a PK or were the Blues just not executing? I thought their PP is one of the best in the league

It ended exactly how it started.... disappointed.

58 minutes of poor execution punctuated with 2 minutes of 3 Blues goals.

I know that advanced statistics have pretty much taken over sports the last few years and I agree they are a useful tool but using them as the be all, end all is problematic. Every year we see a team that 'should have won' get beat by a team with poorer advanced stats, there is still value in the eye test.

Upsets happen, but in the last 10 years only 3/40 teams below 50% xGF 5on5 have made the conference final. Only 8 below 52%. It's not a great predictor of who will win, but it's very good at telling you who can't.

I liked O'Reilly's take

"I think we’re a better team than them. I think we can beat them, and we just didn’t have the full 60 that we needed to tonight.”

Biggest takeaway from me is that Perron and ROR seem to be picking it up. Even tho we have played weaker competition in out last 8 or so games the statistics back up our recent wins.

Don't sweat it, Binnington will get next game so it's guaranteed.
Binnys starts were cherry oicked vs the worst offensive teams in the leaguenafternhis slump. But we have back to back coming uo so yes, binny will get one of those 2 starts

Well besides the glorious 2 minutes in the second they looked out of sync, even jumpy at times. I don't know if it's the mystique of MSG or the organ player playing the St. Louis Blues March early in the 1st, the boys just looked off and incomplete.

I will be happy when they tone down the passing and shoot again.
