Should have phrased it better...why is Brennan getting the #1 PP point time is the question that should be asked.

To give him a look? ..I mean that is suppose to be his strong point. How can it hurt to try someone new on the point when our PP has been as ****** as its been?

It's obvious that Ruff is relying on Ehrhoff to eat the big minutes since he's basically the only d-man that hasn't been a huge ball of suck this year.

Yet again....5 seconds left, huge draw to be taken...and it's HODGSON NOT OTT.

Mother ****er.

Ott was 33% tonight and Hodgson was 62%. You might disagree with that decision, but it's not wrong. Tipping the balance further in favor of Hodgson is the fact that he is more likely to actually score than Ott. I had a ton of problems with tonight's game, but that wasn't one of them.

I meant Sulzer. Isn't that who was being spoken about?

I don't know if I want Kaleta out in one goal games in which we trail, since he's not the first guy I'd look to for the GTG...but... i have no issues with Pat. AT ALL. Slap Stafford's letter on his chest, like mentioned

Agreed on both counts. Kaleta's playing his butt off recently.

That game was freaking painful to watch on all counts. It was alluded to earlier, but I think the forwards are more responsible for the lousy defense in a lot of situations than the D. They don't seem to know where to go to give proper puck support to the D to help outlet the pass. For similar reasons, their dump and chase sucks. They don't know where to go on the shoot in and who is supposed to be supporting whom. You can blame line juggling, but this has been bad all year. In the second half of last year, they were fantastic at establishing a strong offensive zone presence, and it usually started with retrieving the puck on the dump-in.

Meanwhile, Brennan's shot looked like latter-year Zhitnik.

One of the worst things about this entire situation is the fact that we can't call anyone up to even TRY and do anything because our roster is packed.

There are so many useless players on the roster we can't even send Enroth down for a game or 2 of conditioning. Its time to get rid of some of these guys. I'm sick of useless players taking up cap space, roster space and ice time.

Gerbe
Hecht
McCormick
Scott (Only because he shouldn't be in the lineup EVERY game)
Stafford

I know you need "role players" but these guys aside from Scott aren't role players. They are guys who put on the jersey, make a play every once in a while and don't do jack **** 95% of the time. Stafford is listed because he is so gone offensively its not even funny.

The problem is Lindy wants to try and shake things up so he puts useless guys in useless areas. No other change can be made until Darcy frees up some roster space. Its like they are a 1st year coach and a 1st year GM. Looking at this mess you'd never know this is a $65M cap hit team and a coach and gm who have been paired together for 16 years.

Firing those responsible aside, the easiest way initially would be sending Grigorenko back to Quebec.

I know thats the simple solution. Personally I think its ****ing ridiculous to even scratch the kid before giving him a single game with quality players.

But I'm just a fan. What the hell do I know?

Yeah, but it isn't going to happen. A couple more consecutive losses and it's time to see what the kid can do with different linemates. I'd give him Pominville and Foligno/Ott, and see what he can do:

Vanek-Hodgson-Gerbe
Foligno/Ott-Ennis-Stafford
Ott/Foligno-Grigs-Poms
Hecht-McCormick-Kaleta

He also needs some PP time. They're the easiest minutes, the pace slows down, and you usually only play in the offensive zone.

Keeping him up in a low-practice, low-play situation when he could still be working on his game with volumes of icetime with Quebec is even more ridiculous. That he's now part of a roster log jam makes it even clearer. He wasn't untouchable in the Q, he was very good. It's time to let him go back and be very good for the Remparts, particularly into the playoffs.

Bad: Foligno is not looking dominant at all. More like Taylor Pyatt. Plays when he wants to. Ennis gets crushed into the boards and he nor anyone comes over to address the player who did it. I expect Foligno, with his size to intimidate and atleast get in the face of others.

UGLY: The team defense we play: Stick checking instead of hard hitting, reflective on the coaching staff. Teppo and James two of the best stick checkers in the league in their day. I can't for the life of me remember them going hard into the boards to win one on one battles. How can they teach anyone how to be physical when for them its all stick checking.

The hesitation of the D to pinch is what was driving those in attendance crazy. 3 or 4 times they had the opportunity to jump on a loose puck and instead fell back to coverage. We used to have D pinch in to keep plays alive in the zone. Now they stand at the blue line and act as pylons. Terrible.

And when they do pinch - it often goes the other way in an odd man rush. Not sure what else you want?

This team is not put together for this system or coaching staff.

To expect Darcy to make a move is hilarious considering he is so passive in making moves and the timing of moves. Its not the trade deadline so there won't be any moves made.

You think the fanbase is angry now, imagine what happens if Miller demands a trade and they get rid of him? Also, who will replace Miller? This team is in shambles and EVERYONE is responsible, not just one group (management, coaching staff, players).

Might not need to.

Dudes a UFA after next season.

If they don't fix this mess him and Vanek will be gone and we'll be facing another 7/1/07 all over again.

You could say that about any team in the league though that is hesitant and not quick enough to anticipate when the puck will go around the boards to the other side. This team is simply to scared to make any mistakes.

Might be worse, Pommers, Vanek, Miller could be gone, which then takes away our two best wingers in a position that we are VERY very weak at right now and the franchise goalie with no capable backup plan to take over. They need to make a choice real soon on who and how they want to keep the,,because I can see One of the 3 not signing if another doesn't of them dont. I can see Miller seeing Buffalo letting Vanek walk as an insult and them throwing in the towel and he might sign somewhere else so instead of losing Vanek we lose Miller and Vanek. This is the same management that made the choice to basically keep Drury(intangables) over Briere(skill).

I don't have much faith in Darcy going after the top UFA's and being able to get them to play here, this is the same man that supposedly walked away from the presentation to Richards to sign Leino(and we all know how the fans feel abouit that move). Terry and Ted need that aggresive GM that Darcy is not.

IMO, I haven't seen anything that says the worst is over. I think we're just at the tip of it.

I agree 110% with your post. This is one of the best posts i have read and this is exactly what needs to be done. Along with the firing of R n R. This team has been a complete joke. Seriously what the hell are they thinking with some of these players still on the roster? Why is Gerbe in the NHL? Please someone explain to me if Gerbe would be on any other team?

Hopefully, we dump the coach, and accept that this season is about building for the future, and get Grigorenko some scoring situation minutes/linemates.

Also a possibility. I expect to be disappointed -- Regier will stay which means Ruff will stay which means this isn't about building but about right now and as such Grigorenko won't play here or in the Q.

Speaking about losing veteran players like Vanek, Miller, Pominville... I see no way that will be avoided unless Ruff is out the door. Those guys are not going to want to sign here again to play for him.
