There’s a lot of vacancies right now and I worry that we will have a hard time competing with some of these teams to bring in a new coach that will be decent. I don’t think Trotz will move on from Bruno unless he has an adequate replacement. I think we might be stuck with Bruno.
And the fact remains that "adequate" replacement means to continue being "mired in mediocrity"

When I made the poll a few weeks ago I had to stop and think if it was dumb that I let it go through the end of April. I was like “surely we will know by April 30” if Bruno survived or not. But I kept it just because end of month was tidy.

I CANNOT FREAKING BELIEVE WE STILL DON’T KNOW. OH MY GOD. I HATE THIS ORGANIZATION. KILL ME!

I honestly wonder what Trotz sees in him that he goes, I need to keep this guy around and for as long as he did?

Me personally, I was ready to jettison him after the 0-5 start, then he made a little comeback and then we went on another 0-5 bender if I remember correctly. At this point, he definitely should've been gone. Then Thanksgiving happens and he still has a job and we're nowhere where we need to be as a team.

I mean what is he seeing that the rest of us aren't able to see? The guys get to the rink for home games and they make it to the airport for travel, is that the bar? I'm being extremely facetious here but what is it that he goes, I see the potential here.

Yeah, you'd think the results on the ice spoke eloquently enough that it would be a no-brainer to announce the firing immediately after the season ended (assuming you had determined to not fire him earlier during the season anyway and just ride out the trip to the #3 draft pick).

I don't see ANY reason to wait. But ok, he likes Brunette for some inexplicable reason and maybe wanted to hear what players would say during exit interviews? Ok, shouldn't have been necessary, but I guess that's at least some valid justification for waiting a few days.

Past THAT... I don't see what else there is to gain by waiting. Nor do all those other NHL teams who have fired their coaches. It doesn't matter what happens in the draft lottery, doesn't matter if you have or don't have the replacement lined up. Is there a business reason? I would think that getting season's ticket renewals or selling tickets/advertising/etc ALL of that side of things would only be helped by firing the bad coach sooner? :dunno:

All of which continues to add up to me to... Bruno is simply not getting fired. :help:

So this is what we didn't know. Trotz wasn't going to blow this up for Brunette by firing him and it also gives him one last chance to succeed.
Of he succeeds with an all star roster then that puts blame on Trotz for not getting him good enough players, i would think.

But I do hope this is why he hasn't canned him yet and soon after it's over he pulls the trigger

Been closely monitoring the situation with the Blues and how they've brought Snuggerud in.

Pretty much instantly they put him on the top line with other top players and on the 1st PP. He's getting +17 minutes a night IN THE PLAYOFFS and hasn't looked out of place but instead has been able to produce. I'll bet you right now this kid is one of the Calder Trophy favorites for next year.

Blues have been fairly aggressive in working in top prospects last couple years, but this has been aggressive even for them.

Maybe Trotz just "thinks things through" based on gut feelings? "I like it!" "I got a good feeling about this guy!" and for whatever reason, Barry is still emotionally connected to his coach. Reason and logic just don't play much of a part?

I'd be happy enough with a mildly aggressive working in of prospects. Putting our prosects consistently with Smith, Vrana, McCarron, etc is just aggressively dumb. Get them time in the top 6 and double shift a vet here or there as necessary to fill in the extra time.

Svechkov/Wood/L’Heureux/Evangelista/Tomasino/Parssinen weren't going to become a top 6 player playing with grinders that don't mesh with their strengths. They may never become one anyways but the Coach needed to find a combination to help bring out the strengths in their game while helping to cover and work on their weaknesses.
