Watching Schenn tonight really just drove home how horrible a coach Bruno is. Turns out if you let the guy play to his strengths rather than trying to make him a puck moving defenseman for some unknown reason he’s actually still a real solid player.
Yeah I'm thinking there are several guys who signed on that once they got here and started playing for Brunette probably wished they had chosen differently. I can't imagine ROR feels a whole lot better about things than Stamkos and Marchy do. Schenn was probably happy to get the heck out of Dodge as well.

McDonagh only needed that one season to know he wanted out.

Here's my final prediction: Bruno stays and Trotz does his presser either Thursday or Friday to have the smoke screen of the NFL draft.
It that is the case, then I hope Bozo has an altar call moment and realizes he needs to change. Or we are in for another long season of suck.

Trotz does not want to be fickle on coaches. As a coach, he grew up in PredLand where the coach and GM stay together for 15 years, win or lose. He yearns for that stability. The combo of becoming "like the other teams," going through coaches every two or three years, and admitting he made the wrong choice in his first big-boy GM decision is too much for Trotz to handle. Minus a strong push from ownership, Trotz opts for stability over results and keeps Bruno.

IF more players signal to Trotz during their one-on-one meeting that Bruno is really Bozo, AND he reflects on why the Panthers parted ways, AND STH Renewals are going in the wrong direction, MAYBE Trotz throws Bruno overboard to buy himself more time.

If Trotz defies all these data points and keeps Bruno, Trotz owns next season's results. If we suck again, and Bruno loses the room, the new Pred majority owner may clean house.

Yeah especially with them renovating the arena, which means probably going up on tickets again, and if ticket sales are already slipping they aren't going to be happy to just let a coach sit around and do nothing simply because Trotz wants to keep one a long time.

Listening to the interviews, Bruno doesn't have the room now, and there's some hard feelings.

This seems a bit dramatic. Is this of that much interest to average non-message board Nashville sports fans? Wouldn't the Titans drafting 30th even or anything Tennessee football or even the Grizz in the playoffs have more attention? Nashville SC being decent?
To put a spin on this: what do you think the media is going to be doing for this week/Thursday and Friday? All NFL draft. There may not even be as many media in town to even go to the Preds media conference.

Less likely to have to defend yourself/answer hard questions when no one is in the room. Less people talking about your franchise etc. You just get to slip away from the spotlight.

Most of the "writers" now don't have travel budget....

Who are we expecting to ask any "hard questions" of Trotz? Anyone that covers this franchise steers clear of rocking the boat to keep their access and stay employed.

Even then Trotz gets a question like "Some of your high profile signings from last off-season appeared to have some critical comments recently of the coaching and system. What are your thoughts and do you have any changes on the horizon?" and all we're going to get is something like:

"Yeah, Steve and Marchy, you know, they are competitors, they are used to playing in a competitive environment, having success out on the ice. This was a big change and a rough season..on everyone really. It's great to have guys like that on the roster, that have that fire to compete, that help lead the way and set the bar for what we want to be. I think we saw some strong growth from them in how they play the game during a pretty frustrating season. We're going to work real hard at doing the things we need to do this off-season, to add a few pieces that will make us stronger, to get everyone committed to what we want to do, and we're hoping for a strong bounce back next season."

They don't need a draft or other sports to take away the spotlight. It's a nothing burger...nobody cares.

Nobody... CARES... is really what it comes down to. Well, exactly as you say, they care about their jobs/access. Nobody cares about the team itself. So they'll let whatever delusions Trotz has slide. And we'll see if that turns us into a decade of Buffalo. It's what I'm expecting atm. :dunno:

I don't know if I want it to be their responsibility to care about the team to the point of change, I'd rather media focus on independent reporting and analysis and leave the calls for change elsewhere-it muddies the waters. Even then, short of findings of criminal or offensive conduct, no Nashville media is going to have the sway to effect any change on the Preds organization. Most national media don't even have that ability. How much effect does Larry Brooks and his antagonism have on the Rangers?

The reality is that fans are the only effector of change for a losing, poorly run team. People can stop watching, stop attending, and stop buying shit until the bottom line has been affected enough (and even then it will take some time), or you can strap in and resign yourself to where the ride is taking us. Do enough Nashville sports fans or Preds fans care enough after one shit season to effect change? I doubt it.

We have Preds Pravda with the entire local media afraid to lose access if they ask tough questions. National media doesn't care enough.
