Before putting this series in the rear view mirror, I just had to go back and look up the "expert" prognostications at Puck Daddy. Gold, Jerry, gold...

I just eat this stuff up with a spoon.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-p...3-stanley-cup-playoffs-round-3-154236868.html

He was right a/b our 3rd line, I guess. Not a word a/b our forwards willingness to backcheck, take away oddman rushes, force passes, take away space. Our PK? Yeah, was just awful. And, they had PLENTY of chances. Including in OT.

I watched the Pens a lot this year. The one team they suddenly looked somewhat ordinary against was Boston. The pens won those games, but there was a lot to like a/b how the B's played them. I can even remember some of their fans coming into this forum asking why we play such a defensive style, etc. Translation: why won't you let Crosby and Malkin score hat tricks on you, and ****?

Now I could care less if we ever beat them in the regular season again. As long as we BEAT them. Hopefully someone punches Malkin until his lips are so swollen, he doesn't even look human, and gets deported. Crosby in a rematch against Ference doesn't look good, although he did want to prove how tough he was against Chara. Chara of course would face child abuse charges. But, it would be hilarious. Who was it w/ the cheap shot to Bergy's head after a whistle? Lucic can deal w/ him.

This series was interesting in
A) How many people in the region didn't know what an awful whiny cheap player and person Crosby is till now.
B) How much Crosby's stock has dropped with hockey fans given they found him out.

I still think he's by far the best offensive centerman playing in the world. But, even he can get his ass kicked.

I don't think they came into this series collectively, or individually, w/ the proper respect or mindset, to beat or even compete w/ the Bruins. Why the B's may claim another victim in terms of coaches. Who'd of banked on that from a team not that far removed from two Cup appearances?

Even in defeat Criesby's given the B's and Tuukka very little respect. i.e. we didn't finish our chances, we hit posts, but we had lots of chances...blah blah blah. Wake up you mushroom, you were held to 2 goals in 4 games, and were taken to school! How many times were his passes picked off by the best kept secret in hockey?

The Bruins spent that week off preparing for the Pens. The Pens spent the week off wondering who they would be facing in the finals.

Wasn't it some whinny DB late night radio host that told on us.

yea it was some dingleberry out there that was throwing a hissy fit crying about class, and ****** and then when the bruins PR took them down he was on the air the next day saying how the bruins were cowards for taking them down.

Beating that team was very very rewarding (more ways than one)

I agree with his skills. But with his rep as a punk growing, I think it's going to negatively impact his league wide fan base.

Who other than a punk crosschecks, slashes, even punches people after whistles while wearing a jaw protector on his helmet? Can't believe what he got away w/ in the Sens series. Add challenging Chara's manhood, that's if you read lips. Expecting no repercussions whatsoever.

Last guy that did that had a part of the rink named after him.

Punk indeed.

The one thing that stood out to me between games 3 and 4 was that in game 3, Malkin was a constant threat. He scared the crap out of me every time he had the puck. In game 4 I feel like he was relatively quiet. Did the Bruins do anything differently on him in game 4?

IMO, he was just as dangerous.

He barely missed the net in the 2nd period on a spin-o-rama play inside the blueline and then Chara robbed him with his glove with less then 1min left in 3rd.

Boston's gameplan was to double team Malkin / Crosby anytime they were on the ice and have the opposing players beat them...and it didn't work.

I was surprised to see them not keep Sid and Malkin together for an entire game.

Definitely remember both of those, but that's why I said relatively quiet. Seemed to me that in game three he was a force all game long.
