This is literally the Bruins on the ice during the Sens tying goal. Actually, there is more movement in this photo.

The Bruins are broken this season.

Doesn’t mean that everyone on the team sucks or that they can’t “retool” without a complete tear down, but they need to make some hard decisions and the right decisions.

1) At the deadline, you move any impending UFA’s and/or players that are not in your future plans. You maximize the amount of assets you have for said retool, or acquire players you envision as part of the future. That includes Marchand.

2) You call up players that could be part of the future to see if they are legit. Give them prominent roles to see what they are capable of. You tolerate their mistakes as part of the bigger picture. Silver lining is that it could lead to a better draft pick as well as letting you know what you have in those prospects.

3) You change the organizational approach in a dramatic way. The drafting, with the limited picks they have had, has not been good enough. You need to pour resources into scouting, analytics, and anything else that will allow you to draft and develop from within and be less reliant on free agency. Free agency should be a tool to fill in gaps, not fill gaping holes.

4) One or both of Sweeney and Neely must go. I can see a path where they are both gone, or one where maybe Sweeney is kicked upstairs. Speculation, but I don’t think that he and Neely share the same team building philosophies. The bigger/slower thing this year that has failed miserably has Neely’s prints on it. Target an assistant GM from an organization that has done well in scouting and building in recent years (Dallas, Colorado, etc). Hire an experienced, but youngish HC that is technically sound, but can relate to rooks and vets alike.

Not easy, but it’s doable. The Caps were a veteran team that were able to make some drastic changes and turn it around relatively quickly. No room for error here.

No. Brad has earned the right to retire (when he is ready) as a Bruin....unless he wants to leave.
Sorry, but I disagree.

You are sentimentalist, and that is really nice that you are that type of person, but many players better than Marchand, have changed teams. I have seen the greatest player al-time in a different jersey, that was the day I was no longer a sentimentalist.

I don’t see number 4 happening but I think you’re spot on, on everything. Rich Peverly out in Dallas is a guy to keep an eye on for future GM openings and I’d think Kekailanen has to be on everyones short list. Langenbrunner im sure would be on the Bruins, but I don’t see Charlie letting Sweeney go anytime soon.

A new Olympic event the Quintathalon, Skating and shooting. Sponsored by Bauer and the NRA:sarcasm:
I would pay good money to watch that against at least five teams in the League. I'd pay even more money to participate.

I'm not a psychopath so I couldn't go with live ammo -- but rock salt - extra velocity paint pellets - and any other non lethal option would be a blast.

I'd shoot Sam Bennet in the balls with high velocity paint ball and sleep like a baby. After I stopped laughing, that is.

No McAvoy, Zacha, or Koepke at today's practice.

Injuries are harsh but every team has them and has to adapt.

That said, the real bellwether for making the playoffs (for me) is the Goal Differential. Ours has been brutal all year and continues to be. That stat speaks volumes and always has.

However, add that "lineup" (quotation marks on purpose) to our shitty GD????? Just confirms what we all know.

Sell.

It's not a teardown -- but sell. Get picks, young players, picks, young players, centers, centers, and some more centers.

12 sec from winning IS winning, getting outshot 2 to 1 is not well done.
At least the 8.25M man is earning his money of late.
The almost well done part was coming back from down 2-0 in an away game against the very team on the other side of the cut line from you. I did not say well played, because of the beginning when we played like ass and the end when we collapsed. We had them on the ropes and did not finish them. No killer instinct.

Suicide instinct

This team is cooked. They are inching closer to being a team opponents look forward to facing. Zero traction from training camp onwards, too many performing well below their potential, suspect goaltending.

Deadline seller but the problem is, what do the B`s have others want? I`d move Freddy, I`d take bids for Zacha, on the back end, this will piss people off but I see what interest McAvoy gets out there

It's really hard to watch this team. They don't start on time and they struggle to finish games too, it's so frustrating.
That end of game was the most brutal I've seen in a long time. All 5 B's just seem to huddle in front of Swayman while the Sens were toying with them. Another stellar game for Lindholm to boot :(

Which is surprising based on how pissed off they were in the 2nd period. That 2nd period team would be hard to play against, even losing. No intestinal fortitude and that's poor locker room leadership, more than coaching. At this level is winning isn't everything, it's on the players. Coaches show how, player have to know "why". If it's just for a paycheck, you don't win anything.

I am going double talk here. You build from the back out, but I said it when they signed Swayman, who in my eyes was unproven that he could handle the load, he was over paid, 6 -6.5 was a fair deal. Now because of bad negotiations they had to pay him more. You cannot have a weak team in front of any goalie, 40 + shots is a weak team. There is some good players on this team, but not good enough, they need some help, but unfortunately the cupboard is bare cap wise. Signing Lindholm on top of it compounded the problem. Trading McAvoy or Pasta does not help the situation, because what are the chances you are upgrading your talent over those two. Trading a Lindholm because some also on top of giving him a lucrative contract, was also given an NTC, unless he wants out, but who would want him and his contract. So that leaves the goaltender to get some cap relief, you have little over a year window, before his protection kicks in, my suggestion is move him, not tomorrow, not at the TDL, but today, and then start working on getting this team back to where it should be.........Has anyone seen our GM?

The league won't address it but should. The excitement is the action of a true breakaway at game speed. I have always hated that they allowed this perversion of the spirit of the game. Slowing down should not be allowed.
Put a defender on the ice too. Defender starts at opposing blue line. Shooter starts at centre. Both start flat footed from a whistle. That would be exciting and better mimic gameplay. Shootouts would still suck though as a way to decide a game.

Class. 👍

Thanks Wally!!!

I knew if you didn't you'd have shot me the Walter side glance. Which for the 50th time is THE best graphic used on these pages. Same category as @NeelyDan loveable old pooch shots.
Funny you should say this, been thinking about swapping profile pic but still can’t seem to make myself
