Post-Game Talk: Bruins Squander Late Lead: Senators 6 Bruins 5 SO; B’s now outside playoff structure

I was at the game and as soon as the shootout was happening I knew the game was over. We might as well just forfeit if it comes to the shòotout.

3 lame attempts with no hope of scoring. Do we not have anyone with some goal scoring ability on 1 on 1 with the goalie? I would prefer Geekie, Zadorov or anyone with a decent shot to get to the slot and just blast away. This way the goalie may have to work a bit and 1 just might get by.

Very frustrating to watch and worst of all should of never have gotten to a shòotout.

Why, is this the new technique, that the shooter now slows down, why not use speed, make a move then take a shot, just drives me crazy.

Not surprised at how negative this thread is- there is very little to be positive about

Taking a step back- the real question is whether the Bs front office is finally willing to make some major changes or whether they will do a patch job in an effort to make the playoffs. While I hope (major) changes are coming- unless and until shown differently - my bet is the priority is to make the playoffs and the accompanying revenue

My wife mentioned she thought the Monty tenure left behind a group of players filled with self-doubt. Whether that is the case or whether it's a different cause this team plays with a lack of self-confidence that leads to way too many examples of indecision. Yesterday's spectacle of five Bruins players standing stock-still in the last minute while the Senators looked for the kill shot said it all.

With a few exceptions this line-up is primed to be dismantled. Too many players without the needed compete level and willingness to make a play. Not suggesting the front office tear it down to the studs -there are still some foundational pieces to build around- but I do want to see three steps taken:

-send out a couple of core players (Coyle and Carlo) for either picks or prospects

- sign or deal pending free agents (Frederick)- no more Ericsson, Krug, Debrusk walk aways

-and PLEASE- can we call up the young played instead of AHL-lifers and see what they bring. The argument they aren't ready flies in the face of what we are currently seeing from supposedly NHL " ready" players. I would rather lose with the future than lose with the never-was.

Enough- sorry for the rant

...

Jaffe was killing Swayman for shooting for the empty net and failing to clear the zone.

This is critical mass. They’re on the outside looking in.

He was 100% right to kill Swayman for that. Purely selfish by JS.

B's had a number of chances to ice the game, and instead made boneheaded play after boneheaded play. I feel like two years under Monty made this team dumb... everyone needs a dope slap.

We don't know what is happening in the room but Neely and Sweeney do because Charlie Moore has FULL ACCESS. Moore has NEVER leaked a tape the front office does not want to be seen.

WEEI's Rich Keefe didn't make up a story as that is not in his DNA.
I don't watch Charlie... did he have some take on the B's locker room?

I've been good about not getting too emotionally involved in the outcome of these games; but they sucked me in today. It felt like a playoff game and had the earmarks of being a turning point in this lackluster season.

But once again the B's found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Is any late lead safe with this team?

Lost face-offs, failed clears, missed empty nets, standing around, making idiotic decisions that would get a pee-wee team bag-skated, etc.

I'd say sell, but what do they really have that would yield a meaningful return?
It isn't just the return on a player. Free up cap space is important also.

Lack of confidence is a killer.

Question are you talking a rebuild, or a tweaking, for this team, important to know. I am against rebuilding, takes too long, and when you have this rebuild in place, then you need to start replacing, Pasta, McAvoy, the goaltender, so rebuilds can be lengthy. I am going to present my case against a rebuild, I for one enjoyed yesterday's game, until the outcome, that is playoff hockey, are you ready to give that excitement and intensity, for a lengthy rebuild? NOT ME !!!

If you look at some of my postings, I am not a part of your so called group and neither is Fenway for that matter. Succo and staff have brought nothing and deserve what they are getting. Moreover, moving Marchand should be considered given his UFA status, and I would say that of almost any declining , older player.
On top of this, I haven't seen anyone say that Marchand needs to be traded. Some people are saying, if they are out of it at the deadline that they should explore all options on selling veterans. One of the biggest mistakes of the Celtics at the end of the Big 3 era was that they got sentimental and turned down an offer for a clearly breaking down McHale.

Every player is tradeable if it helps the team. You can give a player a great video and jersey retirement night and all the bouquets and gifts and applause you want after he's done. That's the time to be sentimental.

But they need a #1C and if they are out of the playoffs and can deal a veteran that yields them a top notch prospect or high pick, you HAVE to do it. Dealing with a crap team 3 years from now nobody will say "remember those last 15 games of the 24-25 season when we were out of it, but boy we got to see Marchy play 12 more games!" You can always resign him in the offseason.

If some people want to call that hating or something, then that's their immature problem.

Right. Cam slipping around the question by asking the rhetorical question along the lines of "do they outscore their mistakes?" is pretty laughable given that he has an NHL roster that largely is not doing that. I guess it's somehow worse for Lysell or Merk to do that than Coyle, Frederic, E. Lindholm etc.

When they were up 5 - 3 I really saw it coming. I said Ottawa will tie this up because this team lacks the killer instinct big time and then it happend. Astonishing how they let Ottawa set up their goals and how incapable they are in scoring a empty net goal. This team has no possibilly to go deep in the playoffs. Look how they were bombed with shots in the last games and a lot of them were quality ones that only not went in because Swayman is standing on his head those last games.

The positives

- I loved the pushback on Ottawa. They showed that they are capable of not being pushed around. Why don´t they show this more often?

- Oesterle is this years Wotherspoon. Just a solid game

- Swayman making the big saves. Laughing at the people critizing him for the empty net goal/clearing attempt. Without him this game would have been over after the first period

- the chemistry of Pasta and Zacha with Geekie coming along

Carlo, Coyle and Marchy had especially bad games. I wish Marchy would resign from the Four Nations and go for some rest.

They have no business of going on a run or are even safe to get into the playoffs. I wish managment would see the need of retooling but Neely´s comments showed they don´t. Trading Carlo, Frederic, Marchy and drafting in the top 10 in this years draft could really help them in becoming a contender again. Right now we we are doing it the Detroit and Pittsburgh way of slowly flaming out ...
None of those players going to get you a top 10 pick if traded for a '25 #1.
Going to a contender picking about #25

Conspiracy theory at its finest, is that what your suggesting ?

🤔 Sweeney Neely have Keefe put the Pasta” I don't want to play with Marchy “ out there, not directly of course, and Sacco benches Marchand, all to make it easier to trade Marchand aiming at him to request one ? They couldn't be that Shallow could they ??

Gotta admit, though that had entered my mind.😂
