Prospect Info: Bruins Prospects XXV

I don't think there's any spin cycling you can do to make this look good. Yikes.

My first thought was "pfff he's probably just a seventh rounder." Imagine my shock when they took this kid 24th lmao.

Yeah I am all for giving him a chance, but not even one goal you have to wonder if they don’t just cut him next season. There are only so many roster slots. He needs to have a monster off season.

I’m surprised that anyone on this board didn’t know Letourneau was a Bruins first round pick. This is mostly pretty big Bruins fans posting here, so imagine my shock, when a regular poster thought they took this kid in the 7th round.

We shall see. A lot of known detractors celebrating so early make me think I should hold judgement for now. The only way to find a Tage Thompson like player is to gamble on guys like Letourneau. I’m not sold that this kid is a bust. It was a huge jump from Canadian high school to elite NCAA and in the final four he looked decent to me with limited ice. I look forward to seeing the trajectory these next few years.

The first time I read the article it was 1st rather than first. Probably wasn't fully paying attention for whatever reason.

Prospects is admittedly a weak spot in what I know about the game. I'll know if the tippy top of the draft like most people but everything after that is hit or miss. I'll know who somebody like Frasier Minten is but then somebody like a Hutson brother will draw a blank.

I think for me, I don't get as invested in watching prospects because it's still generally a crapchute it they make it. Baseball is similar though I'll be more in the know because I play MLB the show which routinely gases up prospects years before they're ready.

Sounds like he values his education.
I like that, and would support him in his decision to stay at BC if his education is paramount.

But... As a 1st Round pick, and a potential impact NHL player, he stands to make millions of dollars doing what he loves. If he believes in himself as a hockey player he should think about other options, like transitioning to USHL to get playing time, experience and confidence. From there, he can return to school and continue his education journey.

I worry that he's going to really struggle if he doesn't get the monkey off his back and score a goal very early on next season. It could really torpedo his confidence.

The Bruins have a strong vested interest in the player, and have conversations with the player, and of course will spend time with the player at Development camp. They also have conversations with the coaching staff at BC. If they have concerns about his development they might push him to pursue alternatives, but I doubt that happens.

I’ve seen Letourneau play including his very limited time on ice vs Bentley. The kid is a freshman playing on the fourth line on a team loaded with offensive talent.

Next season will be a big one for him as he would normally advance in the lineup

This is literally all there is to say. At most, I expected a 10pt season from him. Natural freshman are rare in College. Natural freshman who are 6'7" with an offensive profile do not exist.

He’s a unique player with a unique development path. If he reaches his potential, it will take longer than other.

I am still excited about what this kid does when he is a complete horse of a man.

People are already writing him off.

Let's see what happens. Even if it's a whiff, credit to Sweeney & Co.swinging for the fences.
