“His status is what it is right now,†said B’s coach Claude Julien. “I don’t even know what his status is (for today), to be honest. We’re just anticipating that he’ll be fine here eventually.

What the hell kind of comment is that?

The harm it caused has knocked Krug out of the lineup for the last four games, an injury that happened when Zdeno Chara (knee), Kevan Miller (shoulder), and Matt Bartkowski (confidence) had already been felled by their respective problems.

LOL! Good one, Fluto.

People who say "it is what it is" should be forced to take a class in quantum mechanics - or, at the very least, should be placed in the same box as Schrodinger's cat.

I can sort of believe that Julien doesn't want to know every little detail of every player's ailment. It's called plausible deniability. Plus, Julien's got enough on his plate with the healthy players, figuring out who needs to work on what with whom, etc.

And I get it that it's frustrating to both parties when reporters are asking Julien about injured players - the reporters have to ask, and Julien has to say some variant of "I'm not telling". But...it is what it is.

Okay, time to go back into my box.

How come neither chara or krug has been out on IR? Wouldn't this save cap space that could be used later in season? Not 100% sure on the rules

Those stars by Chara's name aren't just because he's our star player. He's on the LTIR - just like Krug was until yesterday.

I suppose Krejci doesn't get the LTIR stars because the Bruins want the flexibility to be able to bring him back on Saturday. Players on LTIR have to miss 10 days worth of games - hence the "L".

But it is good thinking to try and save as much cap space. I have no sympathy for LA Kings coach (and anthropomorphic sour lemon) Darryl Sutter's cap problems. Say what you will about the actual effects of the Boychuk trade, Chia gave us about $3.3 million of flexibility to make call-ups and trades at the end of the season.

Does LTIR really allow a team to effectively 'bank' cap space?

For instance, with a cap of $69 million, if a team spends only $29 million the first half of the season, can they really spend up to $40 the second half and still remain compliant?

I question this because I always thought the team had to remain cap compliant on a day-to-day basis.

Grateful if someone could put me some knowledge about this.
