Dobby out 3 weeks.

BOSTON - Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, October 25, that goaltender Anton Khudobin has suffered an upper body injury and is expected to miss approximately three weeks. Sweeney also announced that the team has recalled goaltender Zane McIntyre from the Providence Bruins on an emergency basis and assigned defenseman Rob O'Gara to Providence.

Yikes this is bad. A mediocre at best defense and 2 unproven goaltenders need to be relied on in the short term. Bruins can end up in a bad place in the standings over the next couple of weeks if Subban and Mcintyre can't hold down the fort.

Now add Backes to the list of "day to day" injured players.

NEW YORK — In a season fast becoming a pain in the neck for the Bruins, the focus turned toward an elbow Wednesday when the club announced that veteran forward David Backes underwent elbow surgery and will be out of the lineup indefinitely.

General manager Don Sweeney would not offer a timleine as to when Backes might return to the lineup.

And the hits just keep on coming...not a great start to the new season.

Didn't they just overhaul their PT and Strength and Conditioning team? Rough start for sure.

Rask
Khudobin
Miller
Backes
Vatrano
all out right now

McQuaid
Bergeron
missed significant time

. . . am i missing anyone?

Not really, but you can probably put Krejci and Krug on a similar but different list as those not having a real pre-season camp. Their current performance tends to indicate they are still getting themselves back into game shape.

NEW YORK — Their season already an addendum to Grey’s Anatomy, chapter: sports injuries, the Bruins on Monday took another hit to their offensively challenged forward corps when prized free agent David Backes underwent elbow surgery.

Dr. Ben Wedro, a long-time emergency room physician in Wisconsin and a regular contributor to Webmd.com, noted that surgery is not common for such injuries. Typically, said Wedro, such injuries are treated either by ibuprofen or aspirated (i.e. drained), even in cases when the elbow area becomes infected.

In cases that are slow to respond to conventional treatment, Wedro wrote in an e-mail to the Globe, an arthroscope is used to remove the bursa sac that covers the olecranon, which is the inner, or pointy portion, of the elbow
