What happened to Accari? IMO he's been playing his best hockey of the year lately.
Looks like a maintence day.

If Riley's out, he plays 3rd line center and Gionta sits with Donato

Sounds like Bruce hasn't decided who he's going to scratch between Holden and McQuaid

Looks like Donato will have the Seguin role of 2011. Save him for when we need him and bring in the fresh legs.

I’m okay with this.

Donato has played well but sometimes he gets exposed (due to nhl inexperience not lack of ability).

I really think the team misses Nash. I hope he can play early in the series even if he can’t play Thursday.

I'm ok with sitting Donato too. He is a finisher, so I hope we don't miss that, but better to go with 3-zone experience and ability in the playoff heat.

And there may be injuries, almost always are, so he may get his chance eventually either way.

sounds like...the head not ear, but did you read it somewhere need them back for game 1 so slowly get into game action
I read that swelling was preventing Riley from putting his helmet on - I'm not entirely sure if that was speculation from people here or fact. Him skating one day and not the next (unless just a rest day) just seems more due to concussion symptoms changing so quickly.

Hey B's fans, how big of a loss is Brandon Carlo? Would he have been a difference maker in the series?

A huge loss. He was playing the best hockey of his career prior to the injury. He’s fast and can transition easily, and was great on the PK. McQuiad and Holden are poor substitutes.

They were saying on the radio that Cassidy was optimistic that Riley would play on Thursday. I wonder why he didn’t skate today.
I'm pretty sure they were confused by what Cassidy said today:

"Didn't skate today. Obviously that [makes it less] probable that he would play Thursday, not being on the ice. But I'm not going to rule him out," said Cassidy. "I think they just chose to keep him off the ice today. I assume he'll go back on tomorrow. If he doesn't tomorrow, ask me the same question and I'll probably have a better answer for you."

98.5 was stating that Cassidy said Riley was probable for Thursday.

When Chara and McAvoy were out he was playing some great hockey,he will definitely be missed.

Yes, that was the best hockey he played so far imo and it was a character test too, he was more aggressive and simply up to the task. That period alone did wonders for him in terms of his future development.

Hey B's fans, how big of a loss is Brandon Carlo? Would he have been a difference maker in the series?

The loss is they no longer have a 21 year old 6' 5" right handed smooth skating defenceman who ate up several minutes, especially on the PK.

The replacements are either a more rugged and stable (but slower) stay at home "old school" defenseman, or moving a left D to the right side.

So while he was still learning, his skating and size alone will be missed against a fast Toronto team.

Well, as long as Kuraly, DeBrusk, Heinen etc are in they'll be okay. I'm sure the Make Beliefs have their injuries too.

I still dont understand how Wingels plays over Donato. Doesnt make sense.
That 4th line should be how it was all season. Schaller-Kuraly-Acciari
Donato should be centering 3rd line or 3rd line LW and Backes center it.

There was no reason to not play Donato. Its a win win either he scores and helps us outgun Toronto or he doesn't score and then sits for Riley Nash game 2. Wingels has a specific role he is perfect for and that role is to put the 4th line on notice that all of them better play well since he can replace any of the 3 if they have a couple bad games. Hes a good guy to start in the press box and insert for anyone other than the stars who fail to make an impact.
