Montreal broke my heart too many times as a kid - Bruce Cassidy
I'm a little older than Bruce, and the habs broke my heart quite a few times too.
The Bruins and habs both had very talented teams in the 70's, but for some reason they had our number.....and so did the refs!
If you look at it realistically, back in the 70's the Habs were uber talented compared to the B's, we were really tough and talented, but those Habs teams were on a different level. Don't even get me going on those refs, probably why to this day I don't feel the B's get a fair shake.
I think the habs definitely had a better coach (Bowman) than the Bruins, and although I hate to admit it, they had more overall talent and better goaltending.
...and better reffing!

I should quantify my statement to mean that the post Bobby Orr Bruins were not as talented as those Habs teams, with Orr in his prime we were the best and most talented team. The Don Cherry gang despite not being nearly as talented as the Habs gave them all they could handle. That too many men on the ice call cost us the cup, and despite Cherry saying that the call was legitimate, I doubt that that call goes against the Habs back in those days.
