As much as I agree the last 3 games have probably bought Cronin more time.
Not acquiring one of the best coaches in the league because your team won 3 in a row is insane to me.

It would make sense if firing Cronin would effect the moral in the room negatively, but I doubt the players care if they won 3 in a row. A chance to get rid of a guy they all hate would be welcomed I'm sure.

Again I agree. I just am telling you he isn’t going anywhere yet. If he does I will happily come back here and tell you I’m an idiot.

If only Marchand had converted on the O/T breakaway 2 seasons ago in Game 5.
And if Ulmark had not had couple huge brain farts in games 5 and 6.
Don't think anyone was beating Vegas that year , but if Marchand scores that goal the Bs likely go on to make the finals.

honestly, I look at boston's core and it sounds good on paper but most of the players are aged. even pastrnak isn't young anymore.

I think that Montgomery fell in to the old trap. He massively overperformed with a mediocre roster several years in a row. Then when his team plays at an expected level, he gets fired. They think his coaching is the issue, but it more than likely is not. He had a couple of INSANELY good seasons on the Bruins rosters that he had.

Sweeney is the one that should be fired. The players are the problem.

And btw, if I was a GM of a struggling team, I'd seriously consider jumping the line and firing my current coach for Montgomery, because I hold him in quite high regard.

Flip side of that coin is that he's apparently great at hiring head coaches too.
Yeah, that's true, too bad his run with Sacco will end. There are horror stories about him when he was with the Avs. He might have learned, but one of those was telling a veteran, good bloke Hejduk he wasn't playing when the players arrived 3-5 hours earlier, when the scratch players could arrive 30 minutes before the game. Illogical stuff like that.

Seems like pretty small potatoes from over 10 years ago. Heard worse when they hired Cassidy.

Besides it's as an interim coach, if it works great, if not they can do a real search in the summertime.

60 games left team looks solid paper to me. I'll have the over on this .
If they turn it around, it’s likely due to the roster quality, not coaching. Maybe Sacco has become an excellent coach, but I’d expect him to be more of a warm-body type coach until a permanent coach is brought in.

He couldn’t cut it in Colorado, New Englanders will eat him alive if things don’t go well.

I mean... he is from Montréal and bilingual after all.
I don’t think he will be there - Boston tough enough and reason why he didn’t want to stay here and go back to St. Louis where they can raise their young children

I think they were smart doing this

Seems like an over reactionary fire given they’re only 1/4 of the way through their season and are still in the playoff mix.

Also their goalie missed training camp, so his slow start isn’t exactly shocking either.

I think this is a mistake for the B’s

I guess their Management figures the team needs a shake-up while there's still a realistic shot at making the playoffs.

I don't think a single coaching change will make them a good team, but sometimes teams respond well to coaching changes. We'll see if they get better or worse.

He would be wasted on teams like Montreal and Anaheim. They’re not competing anytime soon.

Detroit and Nashville are better destinations for him.

Quite a few teams should be all over Montgomery. Especially Ottawa and Buffalo.

I was thinking more like Detroit or Nashville myself. The Preds have underachieved so far this season but have played a little better of late.. I could picture them dumping Brunette for Monty though

I actually think Brunette is a good coach and Preds were pretty good team last season. Green and Ruff on the other hand are plain bad. Those franchises haven't had a decent coach in a long time. Montgomery would definitely get them in playoffs.
