Anti-star

Claude Julien - 6 minutes left and we're down two goals? 4th line.
Andrew Ference - Turning into "The puck is a hand grenade" Steve Montador out there.
Anton Khudobin - Rough game, didn't control his rebounds well.

As this team continues to be stoned by every goalie we face I wonder if CJ will blow up the 1st 3 lines for the next game, at least for a period or so, maybe these guys have become a bit too complacent. The lack of finish is keeping every game close, it's going to wear down our best players if this dosen't change.

Do you think this team has played their game this year? This team has some warts. Lots of overreactions no doubt but we haven't played great for a couple weeks now.

Exactly, I haven't really seen much of the big bad bruins this year. The physical part of their game just seems to be gone. Just a complete lack of physicality is what I see wrong so far.

Oh they have their warts for sure. But one of them is Seguin being snakebit. The goals will come for him.

Their "depth" has been non-existant. People are so reluctant to use cheaper ELC options on the 3/4th lines and bottom pairing next year but:

Paille -1
Ference - 3
Campbell -3
Thornton -3
Peverley -4
Kelly -4
Bourque -5

Funny thing is.......... If the sabes win this Sunday and the b's lose, the sabes will only be 3 points back of boston. Kind of remarkable as bad as the sabes have played, dont ya think ?

We need to change up the top lines.

Try this:
Marchand-Krejci-Horton
Lucic-Bergeron-Seguin
Peverley-Kelly-Ray's Kid
Thornton-Campbell-Paille

That's a toss up.

Clode just said, "We got caught off guard in that third period". WTF?

Were the Sabres supposed just hand the game to the B's tonight? I guess they didn't get the memo!

No need to panic, but a few guys have to get their heads out of their butts. The forwards don't worry me nearly as much as the defensemen. Chara, Ferrence, Boychuck & Seids look very slow and are playing weakly on the boards. Their poor play will hurt the team more as the season goes on than any of the forwards.

I thought he turned several potential dangerous plays into absolutely nothing...including the play on which Hamilton eventually scored. And count the lost 1-on-1 battles...

What battles did he lose really? Aside from the chip and changes I didn't notice anything brutal. Again, as a whole, the team was brutal. Easy to single out the best offensive talent in a game like this. Forum golden boys Marchand and Bergeron had bad games too. It happens.

Liked the effort for 40 minutes. Dougie gets his first. Then, all of a sudden, I can barely watch. Horribad third period. Someone needs to tell Seguin he isn't in Biel anymore...

Seguin dated Jessica Biel?

It's hard to watch a team just give up, especially when the two goals to put the Sabres over the top were a bad ( with lack of defense around) and just a plain lucky bounce. It happens it's hockey. After it happened though they all looked like their dog just died.

The take aways.

-Do the Bruins practice odd man rushes in practice because every time they had one tonight, they some how screwed it up.
-Neutral zone play in the third....*crickets*
- Defense...I'm looking at you #21 and the Giraffe on skates.
- Hamliton's first goal and he walks away with a two point night, proving he is very aware and one of the best players out there.
- Seguin...he is slowly shaking of his Switzerland Hangover ( I think he drank too much with Patty Kane). Good chances, but the kid needs to bury them. Don't let stupid Ryan Miller rob you.
- Hit 'em once, Hit 'em again.

Regardless as everyone has been saying. The fans are happy with winning games by a goal or two. Run those numbers up, bury the chances.

Not sure who's idea it is not to engage Buffalo or to play a finesse game but it doesn't work. Bruins need to dictate.

As soon as Scott ran Khudobin someone should have jumped him. They looked soft and uninterested tonight.

Wait.. he turned plays into "absolutely nothing" -- "including the play in which Hamilton scored"?

Watch the play. Hamilton sets him up and he goes backhand (for no reason) and then behind the net. DK then takes the shot and gets it back to Hamilton for the goal.

But good job on the quoting...

What I can't stand is a team not doing anything when its only producing forward gets run.

Unfortunately the play turned into transition, but someone should have jumped Ott later. That stuff bothers me, the stuff with John Scott I couldn't care less about.

The Bruins are definitely going to have to improve offensively to get back on top this year.

The other contenders don't need 20 minutes of time in the offensive zone to get a goal.

They owned the next period and a half after that.

Buffalo put Scott away, literally benched him, and finally looked better.

First game of the season I didn't have the chance to watch. Were there any bright spots?

The first 2 periods were great. Hamilton got his first goal on the PP. I thought we should have blown Buffalo out by the end of the 2nd period if it wasn't for Miller and several posts again. Then it was all Buffalo in the 3rd, with brutal giveaways and not the best goaltending by Dobby in the 3rd. It was not a typical 3rd period by the B's with only a handful of shots on Miller......very disappointing.

The problem I see is the cheap contract they elected to use is for Bourque. I don't even think he's that bad but IMO he's really hurting the 3rd line and it's really affecting Kelly and Peverley. I think CJ needs to address this very quickly. I'd much rather Tardiff or whoever until they can find an acceptable replacement to fill in on the 3rd line. Bourque gives it his all and I don't deny that but he's best just isn't NHL caliber.
