The Bruins will be off on Sunday and return to practice on Monday in Brighton, ahead of Tuesday’s visit to Causeway Street by the Panthers. Marchand, the new Florida left wing, working his way back from a shoulder injury suffered last Saturday in Pittsburgh, is expected to be sidelined another 3-4 weeks. However, it’s possible the L’il Ball o’Hate will be at the Garden with his new club, if only to continue treatment on his wounded wing.

McAvoy staying home

Beyond Callahan, don’t expect additional reinforcements on the blue line this week. Sacco confirmed that McAvoy will not travel with the team on this trip

Kastelic goes home

Mark Kastelic returned to Boston and will miss the rest of the road trip as the rugged forward deals with an upper-body injury.

“We’ll know more when we get back from the trip,” said Sacco.

Kastelic has five goals and a career-high 14 points in 61 games this season, his first in Boston. He came into the weekend ranked fourth in the NHL with 106 penalty minutes, also a career high.

Kastelic missed time after he suffered a concussion against the Lightning in January.

He has made an immediate impact since arriving from Ottawa with Joonas Korpisalo in the Linus Ullmark deal. He is a physical player who has endeared himself to teammates because of his willingness to stick up for them. He signed a three-year, $4.7 million contract extension just after the new year.
