#NHLBruins practice rushes:
Marchand—Bergeron—Backes
Beleskey—Krejci—Pastrnak
Vatrano—Spooner—Hayes
Schaller—Moore—Nash—Cehlarik

I was cautiously optimistic, but this makes me want to puke. I don't like these lines one bit

It's no different. Three lines guaranteed to do very little with at least one passenger on each line.

I think the issue is the lack of chemistry between Backes and Krejci. We need to find another top 6 RW. However, this is what I probably would have tried.

63-37-Cehlarik
Beleskey-Krejci-Pasta
Vatrano-Spooner-Backes
Schaller-Moore-Nash

I can't bring myself to put Hayes in any lineup, let alone on the 3rd line. Even that I'm not thrilled with because it's got an under performer on the 2nd line in Beleskey, but he could potentially create room for those guys and I think flipping him and Vatrano would make the 3rd line a liability having 2 guys with cement in their skates on the same line (Beleskey and Backes)

Backes looked better in his 2 games with 63-37 than his entire time with Krejci.

Belesky's only offensive success as a Bruin came with Krejci as his center.

Although I've never been a huge fan of 46 + 88.

Cassidy didn't even use Spooner with Pastrnak in Providence in the playoffs 2015 immediately after they played together and played well down the stretch that year for Boston.

This Top 6/Bottom 6 stuff has been an abject failure. Spread out the offense into pairs, even though it will mean one weaker player on each line.

The Vatrano spooner Hayes line did very well last year as well imo

It was pretty good, although the numbers for Spooner + Hayes are a bit skewed by two complete anomaly games by Hayes (4 pts. vs. Col, the hatty vs. Ottawa).

I'm OK with the changes. I don't think it's the final attempt at making these puzzle pieces fit.

But it's a start.

Beleskey even strength went

5-9-14 w Krejci and 6-3-9 with Spooner.

Spooner may have been a defensive liability but what's clear is when he plays center he makes his wingers a lot better

The good part to me is he is putting things together that atleast have some glimmer of success from the past.

Backes played well w Marchand
Beleskey with Krejci
the spooner line was decent
The 4th line has been very good

Agree.

The way I see it, Cassidy is the coach for now until Game 82, no ifs, ands, or buts.

I'm excited to see what he brings. I don't want to see him fail.

The Julien era is over. It was a great run. I'm over it now. Let's support Cassidy down this final stretch. See what he brings to the table.

If he fails, we have an entire off-season to tear him apart. ;)

Apparently there was total buy-in to Claude, an elite coach. If that was the case and the team was still not doing well then Cassidy really has no choice but to try changing up the lines. He is in a very tough situation if mgmnt is expecting him to win. Same crap roster. Same crap backup goalies. Same tired Rask. Players loyal to Claude not too happy. I wish him the best of luck. A large shakeup in lines is really the only thing left to try.

Not even sure whether this team is good or bad ,very rarely would they put 60 min of hockey together.I am very interested to see how they Play for Cassidy. Was getting really sick of this not playing until they got down by a few goals or seeming to sit on Leeds.

If it was a total buy in it wasn't a very good buy in because they only did it for parts of a game.

Or the GM could, I suppose, make a roster change? Gasp!

I hear you, but if we're throwing the old rule book out the window and trying new things, you know what I would have liked to see?

Spooner - Bergeron - Pastrnak
Marchand - Krejci - Cehlarik
Vatrano - Backes - Czarnik
Beleskey - Moore - Nash

Chara - C.Miller
Krug - Carlo
Morrow - McQuaid

THAT would be something new.

I like this ......^^.....a LOT! I would though like to see Spooner at his comfortable/natural position at center.

haha, I know your being sarcastic but this is a horrible way for Cassidy to finally get the NHL head coach job after a decade + of not having the chance.

Mediocre lineup + Ownership and Management who are delusional in thinking they can still make the playoffs = more scapegoat material

Truth is, this change needed to happen, but it needed to happen weeks ago IMO

Absolutely, I was pretty convinced that they were going to fire Claude on that Saturday that they said would be an announcement. I thought that they showed a cowardly streak at that point. If they had done it then I don't think there would've been a PR problem like there is now. Moving on, this is a tough gig for any coach, even if they brought in Babcock he'd be pulling his hair out trying to get things on track at this late point in the season.

Bruce Cassidy is now 'interim' coach.

He was a complete disaster in Washington after he was hired to replace Ron Wilson.

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=857

Perhaps he changed his ways in his 8 years in Providence but I have my doubts.

Kevin who is the Public Relations director?

If Neely or Sweeney thought this was a good idea they should have over ruled

If it was that persons idea they shouldn't have that position

This is close to Buddy Leroux trying to declare Red Sox ownership on Tony C Night

Yeah what do they pay these PR people for...they were going to get slammed for firing Claude, why amplify it by holding the presser at the worst possible time.

I don't expect much change in success this season, but if this team gets a few more odd man rushes and improves the excitement of the games with Cassidy, I'll be mildly content for now.

Who the heck are these people and why can't Sweeney be his own man and say when it's done ffs???
It sounds like a real cluster **** if that's the case and he can't even schedule
something this important without asking a pencil pusher sitting in a cubicle, then I can see why he can't make trades without doing an inter-office survey to make sure everyone including the custodian okays it.

I realize they're all saying there was total buy-in to Claude's message. I also think they believe they were totally buying in to his message. But I think we saw enough of a pattern of failing to show up prepared for games that there was a disconnect there on some level.

I wonder if CJ had an issue with dealing with vets who didn't want to go all in for his system. Guys like Krejci seemed to never bring it at important times during the last few seasons IMO. Was he reticent to get tough with him when needed?

The decline in quality at defense was the real problem. With the lynchpin Chara aging to the point of major decline, and so many other guys gone, we have not been able to execute a system that depends very much on a five man structure.

Time for a change for sure. But upgrading the D remains the big job for next season. That is whether we tear down some of the other parts or not.

Would be nice if Hayes gets a fresh start and actually produces.

Someone will eventually regress....I just hope it isn't Carlo...because I could see Liles or Morrow coming back in as management wants this team to win.
