That's pretty much what he did vs. Tampa last year, the problem is he didn't vs. Florida. The point is that it's very easy to shut him down in the post season. That's why they have struggled to go anywhere. How come other stars show up and play better, take their teams further? He has not done that, and deserves every bit of criticism.
oh, I thought it was just showing up
Actually most of the top teams, if not all of them, could have their best player not produce and still comfortably win a series. Edmonton and Toronto might be the only two where that isn't the case. Toronto is pretty uniquely top heavy in production and that makes them easier to shut down in a playoff series (in theory).
Yea gonna be tough to beat their 5 straight Stanley cups going for their 6th.Shut down Oilers top player McDavid, then watch Leon Draisaitl take over. He has more goals and and points than the entire Leafs roster combined in the playoffs.
That being said, good luck containing McDavid. He doesn't fold like a broken lawn chair like Matthews.
Will he reveal his favourite flavour of Haagen-Dazs next week??
