Nice. Somebody during the GDT was pointing out that Fleury was coming out to cut off the shooters angles, and that we needed to deke to beat him when he comes out like that. Glad that our shooters picked up on that also and went to the deke on both of those goals.

For sure. You can think of PPL as a "4th" but I'd like them to get more than 7 minutes.

We have an embarrassment of offensive riches and it's a shame to have only 2 scoring lines IMO.

the problem with backup goalies is always their sample size.
keep the sample size low and you're likely safe regardless.
play a backup more and you risk showing the holes in their game or giving them a workload they aren't used to.

Well then you know what you have. Don't play him more and you never find out.

When the gap in sv% is this large, it would be foolish to not give him the chance to do more. I'm not advocating anointing him the starter. I'm not advocating alternating goalies. I'm saying use him more. Use him against good teams. See what happens. Meantime, maybe Helle can get his head straight.

Because it was pretty obviously called for. Helle has struggled all year and isn't trending upward.

I'm not calling for a change in starters, but it is time for Brossoit to start getting a lot more work. Brossoit against Nash & then Bucky back in against Dallas. Lets start giving him some of the easier games and see if we can give him a boost.

I think the smartest thing to do is rotate the Goalies -- like play them each for 4 games in a row, and keep doing this. This way we'll be able to see just how good Brossoit is. No sense in speculating, because we need to know for sure. If Brossoit can hold up this level of play, we know we have something special. We have to find out.

If Brossoit is for real--extend him now, and keep him on the team for 3 years or so, because someone surely will offer him good money to play for another team.

If this is done --then down the road one could be traded, for a top notch 2nd line center.

Maurice wouldn't trust Petan at center and Copp has been good there. It'd more likely be (and I'd rather see):

Rotate Petan with Lemieux, Appleton, etc. on a regular basis. Eventually (hopefully soon) swap Laine and Roslovic again.

You'd hope so, but Maurice is very, very reluctant to play a rookie over a vet D, regardless of past performances. It's one of his things...

Sign Brossoit now for $ 1.8 to $ 2mil over 3years, before he gets to expensive. It's a bit of a risk if he doesn't turn out -- but it's looking like he will be great. This is a good deal for 2 Goaltenders $ 6 for Helle and $ 2 for Brossoit-totalling $ 8 mil. Considering that Montreal pays Price $ 10 mil--this would be a "steal"

Then if we have 2 great Goalies --one could then be traded, for a dynamic 2nd line center. This is if Brossoit turns out to be as good as many think he will be on here--and I'm one of them.

Going by his season to date, Helle will struggle but not be bad enough to be pulled. I don't believe Brossoit pushing will motivate Helle to try harder. I don't believe there is any lack of motivation. Might inspire him though. Who knows?
