Proposal: Brock Nelson to the Wild

I don’t really care what Guerin has done or not done. You guys don’t even have a 1st this year. You said Brock is not worth a 1st. That “50 point guy” would be the 1c on the Wild before the emergence of Rossi lmao please. You’re a hater.

He doesn’t care about the facts. He’s a hater.

Or a panelist on The View in drag

I like Nelson, but i dont think he is a fit for Wild, get some faster player that can play your style, don't just look at the points (Nelson is on pace for 22 goals and 48 points), so maybe look at that as well tbh.

If posters were GMs, there is no deal here. So, maybe the Isles can trade him to DAL. And MIN can play against him in the first round of the playoffs. ;)
I guarantee Dallas fans would take one look at this
I'd like to get the Bourque kid out of Dallas for Nelson

they get Marchment back in a few weeks so they might have the roster flex to make a deal by then
and the conversation would go south quickly. My hope, as someone whose team plays Dallas consistently, is that they would make that sort of trade. Would be awful for Dallas value wise.

No shit.

I really needed to spell out "in free agency"?

Look at your wording and TRY to understand why I said that . . . it's not what, it's how snotty you sound about it. "We'll pick him up in July if we want" . . . TRY to understand that this is a guy who has performed, over and over again when it counts, in the playoffs. That's why he's going to get more than you think in a trade.

YOUR GM picked him for the 4 Nations over a LOT of other talented players. Caulfield, Boeser, Debrincat, Tage Thompson, Jason Robertson and Keller were ALL left off. Your opinion is NOT shared by Guerin as far as his worth is concerned or that wouldn't have happened.

TRY to not be a jerk about this. Are you capable of looking at this dispassionately?

I assure you, I am as dispassionate as you can get about Nelson being traded to Minnesota, and I don't believe I have shared my opinion as to his worth in this thread.

All I was asking is if there were pen-to-paper reports out there about a Nelson trade being '1st round pick or nothing'.

Oh man, do you think Nelson has more trade value than those guys because of 4 Nations roster spot??

If Lou let anyone in the press know that, it would be a first
His MO is the equivalent of hockey Omerta LOL
The Horvat trade came out of nowhere, no leaks at all
So far, the early articles have him as a top target.
The simple fact is that if he plays well at the 4 Nations he will command at least a 1st and if he doesn't, that will be the ceiling.

Why don't you block me? I'll converse with your more capable colleague.
You're just wasting my time.

He's worth a late 1st round pick and a B prospect or another pick, say 2nd or 3rd. I don't care who he is shipped off to.

I don't expect him to fetch a huge return but he's proven and hasn't had a bad playoffs since 2016.

It does amaze me that there are posters that think he's not a 2nd line center. That's just silly. Until recently he and Palmieri were on pace for 35 goals and now are on a pace for 23-25. That's worth a first at the deadline. No idea which draft is supposed to be better (25vs26) so maybe it gets kicked to 2026 with conditions.

If you’re referring to Minnesota posters, who is Nelson playing over: Rossi or Eriksson Ek?

I don't give a soupy pile of turds if he gets a first or not. As long as it isn't coming from the Wild. Other than not really wanting to add another aging vet, I wouldn't mind him on the team. I wouldn't be "excited" by any means either. More of an 'Ok. Cool.' vibe. But, as per usual with most teams on the other sides of these trades, they're wanting more than the Wild need to be doling out for a player who isn't going to completely fix what ails this team. Especially in the playoffs.

However, I will say this. Guerin does weird s***. Would he pay what the Isles fans are wanting? Unfortunately...probably. If he can find a way to swing it. I just hope he doesn't.

None. No reports of an ask, because Lou doesn't do that and most Isles fans can't believe he'll ever sell off players even though it makes way more sense to do that this year. I don't know what that other guy is talking about, anything about first rounders and prospects are likely estimates based on prior trade deadline deals.

Let me stop you right here. Are you saying an organization needs to pay for past production?

The answer is no, they don’t. A team will pay based on his play this season and how much they value 3 months of him on their team.

How much do you value a guy who plays over 19 minutes a night and is struggling to maintain a 50 point pace?

No he wouldn’t. Ever heard of Eriksson Ek? One of the best two way centers in the game. Definitely better than Nelson. Hell, this year has been down and he trails Nelson by 6 points in 13 fewer games.

Just say you don’t watch the isles and you have no idea what value Nelson has. It’s very obvious and this conversation is pointless. I may as well talk to a wall.

rather than arguing about what futures would be fair, how about someone figures out how to make this trade work for a Wild team that has zero cap space until summer.

Arguing about if he's worth a 1st seems pointless when the next 1st Minnesota can trade is 2027, and I would find it unwise to trade that until we know where Kaprizov is going to be playing in 2026-27. Also, dropping another 1st on a rental when one was just spent on a fairly large gamble player seems like pretty shaky GMing, even for Billy Big Balls.

Tell me what Nelson is this season. I'm prepared to be enlightened, but no islander fan seems capable of answering that. It's blah blah 30+ goals 70+ points the prior seasons blah blah you have to pay for that blah blah.

Honestly it's not worth engaging with this guy....Again, everyone can talk all they want. No one knows shit here. So again, let's see what happens. This back and forth is just plain stupid. He obviously doesn't want Nelson and that's fine. Who cares....
