Proposal: Brock Nelson to the Wild

It would take the Isles to change their GM...Or ownership force his hand. Because Lou Lamoriello does not understand anything but "going for it" with overpriced vet players - No matter how much he hurts the future of the franchise.

Something Minnesota doesn’t have to start which is a 2025 1st. Like I’ve said previously, a mediocre prospect (or one with next to no NHL potential) and mid round pick just won’t do it.

Lol. In all seriousness McDonald's was lazy and just gave him the Double Big Mac. And they dropped the ball huge by not giving Matthews the softest burger they offer, the Filet o Fish.

...you, good sir, are a BEAUTY!!... :thumbu:

So take a 2026 1st and another asset (with interest) for having to wait a year.

Wild want him for Free...we obviously think the opposite. Time will tell....
Isles fans think anything short of 1st+ or Ohgren+ means they are giving him away for free lmao. So cringe.

He’s not worth a 1st or Ohgren.

Nice to see he pulled his head out of his ass for a couple games there though. Hopefully that’s enough for you to hold onto him and let him walk in free agency.

Again, time will tell....For the record this Isles fan doesn't want Ohgren. I want Ritchie or Strombel.

What 2026 1st? The Wild’s 2025 and 2026 1sts are tied up in a trade with Columbus due to conditions. What would the asset be? The Isles don’t need prospects who have no shot at making the NHL or a cap dump just to get a body back.

I want Buium over all of them personally but I know he’s untouchable. I want nothing to do with their version of Iskhakov (Marat Khusnutdinov) who was listed in Stefan Rosner’s article last week.

Heidt or Ritchie would be fine by me. But Isles would have to take back some cap. Foligno, Hartman, Trenin. Each unlikely to be traded for different reasons. If Nelson ends up here, just makes sense for it to be in FA. Cap buyouts end this summer and we should have space for someone like him or Boeser.

All 3 you listed have term. Isles have no interest in that.

Marat may not be good, but defensively he’s okay to good and personally I don’t see wild trading him because he’s Russian and his closeness to kaprizov.

Not for free, that's nonsense. I'd offer Peart or Lambos and a 3rd for him.

Kind of weird to even bring him up at all in a Brock Nelson thread
I brought him up for no other reason that he’s a high end Wild prospect. As for the two names listed and a mid round pick, still no interest. Teams will beat that offer if Brock becomes available.

So basically he’s an AHLer to 13th forward. Really no interest in another one in the collection with too many of those currently in the system.

With retention. What would it take? Makes a lot of sense.
Unless it's a free agent signing, I don't have any interest. Playoffs (obviously, if the Wild make it in) aren't going to amount to much with their PK/PP the way they are. Nelson isn't likely to make either of those better enough to matter. It'd be wasted assets on a wash season. Sign him over the summer and spend nothing but cash.

Nelson is under rated. Better than Monahan, should be able to fetch a 1st from a contender pretty easily. Makes it tricky for wild as they don't have a 1st and obviously won't move a blue chipper. Colorado or Winnipeg make sense to me

Yeah that's my point. Like if the Wild were trading Zuccarello, and Washington and Columbus were interested, I wouldn't even mention Ryan Leonard or Cayden Lindstrom. But to each their own.

Nelson will get the 1 at a minimum. See Monahan and Hayes in past years.
That doesn't mean I would want my team to give up that 1.
