I know he has a whole story recently of family troubles right? not looking to be insensitive at all asking this....can someone provide me with the details of why its Van/Minny or bust and his great guy persona in this thread? Living in Rochester Ny I dont get to follow west coast guys as closely so I'm genuinely interested not trying to pry or be a jerk.
Not to discredit other NHL players but his story and path is different than most.
His sister has a development disability
His dad was diagnosed with Parkinsons while Brock was still young, then had a brain injury from a car accident and later dementia and cancer which he eventually succumbed to
His mom worked 3 jobs to support the family, as his dad could no longer work.
Before his draft year one of his childhood best friend was killed and another severely injured in a car accident. He wears the number 6 as both his late friend and dad wore that number.
While he was playing college hockey, a fan with down syndrome asked him to go prom with her and of course Brock made it happen
He's always smiling and laughing in interviews and posting about his dogs on social media. Obviously I'm not in the lockerroom but by all accounts his teammates love him.
