This one is particularly interesting to me for a couple reasons. His contract's up after this season. Currently making 6.6, coming off 40 goals last year and 6 in 12 before getting hurt.

-OEL's buyout goes up by 2.5 million next year and Hoglander's raise also kicks in.
-Not much money at all is coming off Vancouver's books
-If he gets offered 8.5 in the offseason, can Vancouver match that?

Another reason this is interesting to me is that I wouldn't be surprised if Minnesota takes a big swing at him. They could really use some more goal scoring at forward- particularly on the right side- and next season is the year Parise and Suter's buyouts finally drop off massively.

Boeser will sign extension seven or eight years, between seven and eight millions.

Practically zero percent chance he plays anywhere but for Vancouver or Minnesota in his NHL career.

its somehow tied to the emergence of Lekkerimaki, if he shows enough promise, the brass maybe reluctant to give him a long term deal. I can definitely see Minnesota targeting him, they've been interested in his career for a long time. At this stage in his career, he is an all purpose elite winger that has learnt to overcome his slower footspeed with smart positioning and tenacity. he should command a very hefty AAV.

Rising Cap:

Anywhere else: Close to 9 mill per.

Vancouver: 8mil per.

Canucks will be solid at top 6 RW for the next few years with him and Lekkerimaki.

Depending on who goes to UFA next summer, he could easily be one of the best available. A shorter term deal might mitigate the "free agent drop-off", but the shorter the deal the greater the cap hit. I don't see him taking less $ than Guentzel, as mentioned above.

He said he doesn't want to be anywhere else and the rumors were already that he was one of the guys who would take a discount to stay.

Plus the cap rising like 8 million, I'd be very surprised if he didn't re-sign.

Think he takes a shorter deal to set up another pay day afterwards
In order for that to actually be profitable for him he’d have to get like 10.5 as a 32 year old. Extremely unlikely.

That makes sense for a 24 year old, not a 28 year old.

A 1 time often injured 40 goal scorer.7.75 seems about right.
you cannot blame him for the Jeannot hit. How many times did Guentzel hit 40? 1 more time playing with Crosby, thats it. I think vancouver fans underestimates how important a cog he is on this team right now.

No you can't blame him for the hit and being out right now..that was dirty..i am going on previous seasons .Id feel more comfortable paying someone who can stay in the line up and produce 35 to 40 goals..then paying someone..I HOPE can stay healthy and score 30.His injury history is not that great.

depends how soon he is back from his concussion and how he ends up looking. if he's out a while or has issues when he returns i can see him doing a 1-2 year deal for 8-9m and then trying again for the big payday

A smart, complementary winger with size that can play a sturdy game along the boards, has excellent 200ft positioning and distribution skills, as well as far above average finishing... but below average skating and puck carrying ability for someone of his caliber.
I really like Brock but struggle to find comparables. Hoping he remains a Canuck in any event, dude is calm in front of goal and would definitely save your dog if it got lost. Nice guy, good hair.
