Bridgeport Islanders Discussion 2024-25: Where's the Farm?

Boy do the Islanders have to figure out AHL goaltending and the NHL depth situation there. It's really disheartening to have bad goalies back there. Even Hogberg's so-so numbers down there are nowhere near as bad as the others. And that could have a big effect on the team.

There's a log of room for improvement defensively down there. But with Quinn Finley going back, they're not going to get a whole lot of scoring talent. Not unless Eiserman signs, and I hope he stays at BU for another year.

I'd bet a lot that Gamzin, whose current contract runs out this spring, will be brought over, perhaps on an ELC.

Gidlöf is best served remaining in his current gig in the SHL. Which likely means Lou and Chris will be bringing him over.:-)

The Tikkanen experiment must end.

That Skarek is still around is alreay a mystery.

Lennox played not too long ago. They'll likely try getting him fit this summer after an extremely long period out of action.

Hope they don't continue seeing the draft as the way to acquire goaltenders.

On paper, the team SHOULD have been fine up front.

Terry should be in 60-point land. Foudy, Pinho, and Karlström should all be in 50-point land.

Gauthier has basically missed the season, but he should have been a 40+ point scorer.

Then our own prospects of Jefferies, Maggio (each 45), and Liukas (10-15) should have been regularly contributing.

Dufour should have been putting up 45+ and if you take his output and say that Beckman is the continuation thereof, then you've got that 45 points.

The likes of Bardreau, Smith, and Thompson are all good for 20-25 points.

Anything that Thiesing, Piercey, Randl, and Kuefler add would be a bonus. Thiesing putting up 15 points has been, well, ok considering most saw him landing in Worcester.

With Bolduc actually having his second best offensive season and each of Odelius, Warren, and George being of the puck-moving variety, there really isn't any reason this team shouldn't have been scoring more this season.

What we all know is that no-one is really looking forward to a kid like Ritchie heading to Bridgeport.

As a sidenote, my gutt feeling is that Berg is going to return to college for a 5th season. UND has a younger, prospect-filled team that kind of underachieved this year. And Berg missed time. Wouldn't be surprised if makes use of the opportunity to be a 5th year senior and give it one last big go.
Didn't Gamzin just sign a 2 year deal in the khl?

I don't know if it's still the case, but I noticed a pattern in past years where a guy would be called up from BP and his +/- numbers would improve in the NHL. Even factoring in sheltered ice time, etc., I don't think that's the way it's supposed to work.

The way things are going, even with a retool Duclair and Engvall are going to be duking it out for a roster spot next year, with the other going to bridgeport. Not good news for the NY Islanders, but maybe good for Bridgeport.
