Curious to know which teams may be interested in Dumoulin before the deadline and/or this summer as a free agent? What would you project him to fetch as a rental, and on his next contract?

Just turned 33 in September. Good size and cup winning experience. The move to Anaheim seems to have worked for rebuilding some value, he's playing heavier minutes than he was getting in Seattle - back around that 20 per game mark that he has seen for most of his career.

Definitely wouldn't be seen as an "upgrade" to a contending team's top 4, but definitely would solidify your 4-6 group with an experienced minute eater.

I'd be happy to keep him on a short term deal in Anaheim - but there's been talk that he'd prefer to return East and we have added another veteran defender in Trouba. Moving out Dumoulin as a rental just makes sense, we can roll our lefties and righties all on their proper side and still have good balance with Lacombe, Zellweger, Mintyukov, Trouba, Gudas, Helleson/Luneau.

Feels like 3rd rounder territory @50%

I think that's probably on the lower end but maybe not. For me he has a slight bit more going for him (Cup experience, many years of playing top 4 mins including this year) that will slide him in ahead of your average veteran bottom pair guy who pulls a third rounder most deadlines. The Ducks got a third out of Lybushkin last deadline for example - Dumoulin is at least a solid notch better. I was thinking a late 2nd and maybe a smaller add, especially if we are talking about full retention. He's more of a top 4 depth addition rather than just a bottom pairing add.

Really just depends how many dmen are actively being sold on that day

Would be a nice depth piece for a team to add for a cup run, specially those teams that lack much help in the 5-6-7 d spot

Not saying cup run (although would be nice) but that sounds like the Ottawa Senators music!

Travis Hamonic and Jacob Bernard-Docker being your 6-7 is not a very good spot to be, especially pushing for playoffs.

Undoubtedly a better veteran D than Hamonic. I mean no offense by this as I live in Sens territory but I do question whether Dumoulin would waive his NTC for Ottawa. American player who has only ever played for US teams, I wouldn't be surprised if the Canadian clubs are all on his 10 team list...

Seems like a low key type of move Chevy likes to make. Would rather have Dumoulin at 3LD than Logan Stanley.

Hes a vet D that playoff teams acquire for vet depth at the deadline for a pkayoff run.

He might return a late 3rd but I think a 4/5&7 is more likely or a secondary prospect+4/5/6

I think that's kind of a right side premium on Boosh. Leafs also paid a 3rd rounder for Joel Edmundson and I don't really see reason why Dumoulin would be worth more than him, but depends on the market ultimately
