Way to go Brent :handclap:

Brent Sutter is now 11-0, the longest winning streak EVER in the tournament.

And hey, he even gave Latandresse a chance to get his game going, and what does Latandresse do? #20 is standing around doing nothing.

Brent Sutter now is gunning for yet another record, being the first coach to win back to back gold medels.

Could Brent Sutter be the greatest coach for Team Canada WJC?

What is he supposed to do when the puck never comes to him. Boy, he misses Brassard crazy.

A Derrick Coleman whoopdy damn doo. Competent coach, i'll leave it at that.

I applaud his feat. It is an incredible one. But I don't get this absolute love-fest with Sutters in Western Canada. You'd believe the guys are all reincarnations of Toe Blake or Vince Lombardi.

For all the crap he took in the Latandresse thread, Sutter being an idiot or stupid or a pylon could have done what he did, he sure deserves his credit.

He also gave Latandresse more then enough chances to get going, but Latandresse just sat on his hands. Benoit Pouliet has also been floating out there, dispite given chance after chance.

And why did he give more chances to Pouliot?

If CAnada (and Hartsburg, since he's the special unit guy) doesn't wake up and ajust the power play before the final, I don't see the golden goose laying an egg here.

By the way, can you tell me what the hell Clément Jodoin is doing on that team?

If this turns into another Sutter vs. Latandresse thread, it will be closed as we have been there and done that. Please keep the discussion to his coaching accomplishments.

Because the Team Canada staff didn't think that having him would make them a better team

Say, aren't you at the World juniors right now?

This was a thread that did not have to be started. Its almost like you are looking for a fight. Why not staple Pouliot's *** to the bench? Cogliano got banished. Blah, and blah and blah. He's done a good job- why are we getting a foolish love in for a coach that coaches the best program on earth? He should be starting a thread thanking Hockey Canada for the opportunity. He did what he has supposed to do. Good job. I am not going to put him in the hall of fame, its too hard to judge just how great he has been. He has been at least competent.

Setting a record for the WJC - what this board is about - did not need to be mentioned?

ok

This guy is a good coach. Many don't agree, but his tactics win games. Hard, physical hockey. Preperation, attention to detail, physical intimidation. And you know what else he's great at, that everyone think's he's an idiot for? Accountability. If you are accountable for your play, you get oppertunities. If you stand around scratching your crotch (ie. Latandresse) you get benched. A whole bunch of people said that Sutter's tactics will be the downfall of this team, or that he was an idiot or that he is doing a terrible job, but now he's 11-0 (the best in WJC history) and going the gold medal game - again - to win a gold medel - again.

I guess you don't know this guy...
Nope, I don't. I once saw Brian Sutter peeing in a bathroom stall though. But that's probably the closest for me.

Your post included yet another crack at Latte, its not enough to praise Sutter's accomplishments but you take another opportunity to **** on Latte.. That is what i'm getting at. Sing Sutter's praises all you want. Greatest of all time - just like Ricky Henderson.

I don't care about Latandresse. I didn't even care about Latandresse in the Latandresse thread. As long as Canada is winning hockey games, I don't care if Latandresse is eating popcorn in the stands or sharpening skates in the dressing room.

People questioned Sutter's tactics and accountability/punishment style. People said Sutter would lead Team Canada off a cliff, becuase he doesn't know how to coach.

Well, now he set a record for WJC longest winning streak, and is now going to the gold medal game again. People said their dead step grandfather that cheated on their mom could have led Canada's 2004 squad to a gold medal, I disagreed - ego's are harder to coach then underdog's, but fine, whatever. Now, he has a underdog team with no real "big" names (Dustin Boyd is their leading scorer for cracker's sake) and he just continues winning and is still going to the gold medal final.

Bad coaches don't do that.

Ok.

A mild congrats to Sutter on this one. I'll take the same approach that I'm sure Sutter will take: wins 7 to 11 won't matter much if his players don't get a 12th straight win.

All he ever does is win. Players want to play for him, because they know they'll win. He has done an excellent job at motivating the team, and getting the players to buy into what he's trying to do. He has them playing tough, phsyical hockey. He has surrounded himself with the right players at the right time. That has resulted in a 20-7 GF/GA differential, and one even-strength goal against. If Canada continues to play like they have, and continue to get strong play from the ultra-steady and consistent Justin Pogge, they will win Game 12.
