Rangers have a logjam of winger prospects that are about to push for an NHL spot next season, if not earlier (Perreault, Othmann, Berard). Unlikely there’s more than two spots available, and there may only be one.

There’s nothing necessarily wrong with Othmann. He probably projects as a middle six winger, but they can’t all play for the Rangers. If you’d rather have Brett Berard (some Ranger fans prefer him to Othmann), he’s also available. Before anyone asks, no to trading Perreault. I’d ask for a LHD or C prospect back. Can also be a young NHL’er. Middle six or middle pair potential from the player is likely the ask.

NJ first for Othmann

Doubt anyone trades a C for a W. top D prospects are hard to get too. You kinda just have to draft them.

I think they should trade him to the Kraken because he was not only a good friend of Shane Wright but had excellent chemistry with him.

But if not Seattle due to trade reasons I think they just use him as a piece to land a big name at the deadline.

From Detroit: Wallinder.

But, if Perreault is available...

Rangers arent trading othmann unless they are blown away by an offer. Kid was 2nd in scoring in Hartford as a 20-21 year old and had 5 pts in 3 games this season before getting hurt. He is also probably on the team next year as they need ELC contracts to replace some guys who will not be on the team.

not quite this, but Rs should learn from recent mistakes not listening to bern and not trade youth for vets

we need stopgap til Fortescue/Emery arrive
cannibalizing assets to do that is not worth it

How is Del Mastro doing and what does he project as?

Well last year he was AHL Allstar in his 1st professional year and got some games in with Hawks at end of season

In camp there was essentially a 3-way battle for final roster spot among kids with Nolan Allan winning over Del Mastro and Korchinski

This year he has been bumped down in lineup/role in AHL by the arrival in Rockford of Korchinski and Levshunov

But while his offense is down (Just 2 pts in 11 games) he is best all-around defender in Rockford (Leads team with +3)

Projects to a solid all-around top 4 defender

Yeah, that’s what the Rangers need. Would take that deal.
