Player Discussion Brendan Gallagher: all heart, no hands

Gally’s last game against the Maple Laffs was his best game in quite a while. His mind is willing to play hard and smart to produce points. It’s too bad that father time is against him and his past injuries paint a banged up body.

Guy just needs to have a proper offseason to heal up. I am not too worried.
Needs to convince St.Louis and Vinny to hire Brad Richards to teach him how to gain endurance. He gets winded after 15s every shift . Richards was known to have unbelievable stamina

Gally's act is getting really old, I am at the point of really disliking him.

It should be obvious to everyone that NO he can’t bounce back. What is it now 38 games and counting since his last 5v5 goal and wasn’t that one in an empty net? People are constantly shitting on Lehkonen who’s play and numbers are stellar when compared to Gallagher. The only constant at this point is the beating his body takes when he tries to elevate his game. The so called “Heart and Soul” of a team has to be much more than that.

There is no way to know his attitude in the locker room. But even the bests leader could be overrun by a bad ambiance and bad coaching and bad apples. Good leadership is done with more than one people. One thing I do know, is that I trust Saint-Louis to know if a guy is a bad apple in the locker room and if Gallagher is really not the leader that he seems to be, There is more chances to see him go.

If he's got the good attitude, stay positive and follow the lines of the coach. I think he'll stay. His value with his contract must lesser than his value to the team anyway and if we want to build something, we need pillar blocks to support our construction. Not talent wise, but attitude and leadership wise.

The question is : does he fit that description. Can he still improve ?

In the mean time, we do not need his cap space for anyone for the moment so it all depends on what he does bring to the team.
We may not need Gally’s $6.5 M annual cap space but Molson may want to save that money which isn’t pocket change,

Gary Roberts will whip Gally and Suzy into Navy Seals shape.

Geoff Molson only had himself to blame for approving Bergevin vastly overpaying Gally, Petry, Drouin, Price, Hoffman, Savard and Armia.

Petry and Price were bargains last year. Hopefully both will get back to form - and be dealt each for a really good package of futures.

Price earned his salary by playing out of his mind in the playoffs but he was no bargain at 10.5M.

He carried the team on his back to the stanley cup finals. He did more than Matthew's, McDavid, etc... and all these players that were paid more than him. He played like a 12M player minimum. So, he was a bargain.

We we’ll need to live with the contract for a few years unfortunately.

it won’t be too much a problem for the next 3 rebuilding years.

i would like to not have the contract, but we kept Alzner, Drouin and they were way worst. At least we pay for what gally did. We paid Alzner and Drouin for sweet 0 zeroo

Matthews and McDavid play like 12M players year round. Price can only do it for a short period of time. Price is not worth his contract and that’s not going to change any time soon.

We can agree to disagree...

What's important is we can retain salary. A fully healthy Price at a 5.25M should have serious contenders that want a cup salivating and willing to give up good quality futures.
