Player Discussion Brendan Gallagher: all heart, no hands

That idea brings Habs replacing him by whatever Dvorak, Evans and Paquette.
Look at the results. What a mess.
Look at LA Kings now. Would you prefer a duo Gallagher-Dvorak of a duo Iafallo-Danault?
Phone LA Kings gm and ask him to trade Dvorak and Gallagher for Danault and Iafallo.

Now it's party time when they face Habs. No more defensive center, the Habs are shooting free territory. Party, party, shoot the puck in tha net! Shoot at the goalie as much as you want, Danault and all the defensive system is GONE !

So this is what you wanted and you're still agree with that?
Danault and the defensive system is gone??? LOL
Price is injured you mean.
The Habs were an awful team with Phil taking up too much TOI, and that was when he made 3.1M

So what you are saying is, with Phil still in Montreal, and his shutdown role would have us losing 3-2 instead of 5-2?
Is that what you wanted?

LOL if you think Phil would have any impact this season, without Price/Weber in the lineup!!

A team doesn't rely on one player. Having Price now wouldn't change much. We'll be losing 3-2 instead of 5-2. Yes we are missing Price and Weber, and Edmunston but we are missing Danault too. Danault have +46 in his carreer so far while shutting down the best centers. The problem the previous years there wasn't enough depth at center. It wasn't normal to have only one line ending seasons with a +. We needed more centers and more constant than "one year wonder' Max Domi.

I view a team as a team and you view a team as players having individual stats and goals. It doesn't work that way in hockey. I don't care if Danault doesn't score much goals, I look at the general picture, the system and the chemistry between players.

So now you think LA Kings are in big trouble having Danault signed that amount and that long term?
LA Kings are all right. They are happy. They can be part of the next PO run. I would change the entire LA Kings team for the Habs team now. The players, the prospects, the second floor and the scouting-drafting staff.

edit : Danault still is 56% face off winner today. Official stats.

Phil has his big break in LA pacing for 43 points as their second line center.
Lars 1 point back and a couple less games is pacing for 44(the same in essence) on the third line with less minutes and playing just as much shutdown role.
phil even +- Eller +6 What is the magic of Phil that I don't see. Maybe gally and tatar helped in that matter. Gally massive injuries and ageing, not what he once was:wally:...hmmm

Almost everyone wanted Phil to stay, and he and Gally would still be together, but when Phil wanted more than 5M and a more offensive role, he left on his own...Gally is not ageing well, and we all know the habs can't score, so the 3 goals Phil has would be no big deal at all, and Gally playing injured is just that...we all knew his game would catch up with him, which makes over paying him as an older player was dumb, just dumb......not Sergachev Drouin dumb but close...

On the “Brendan Gallagher: can he bounce back?” question: What Does Brendan Gallagher Bring to the Montreal Canadiens in 2021?
My main area of concern regarding Gallagher’s early season results has been his defense.
As is shown in this graphic, the bulk of the regression seen in Gallagher’s 2021-22 season has been via finishing and chance suppression. The finishing I’ve addressed already - small samples tend to be extremely volatile with finishing, and it should normalize with time. Poor defense on the other hand is worrisome. Has his separation from Danault had more of an imapact on his two-way game than initially thought, or can we attribute this to something else? My educated guess: a mix of the two.

They also give him the excuse of playing on the third line with a revolving cast of linemates....now where have we used this argument before for other players, players that have had "golden opportunities" despite playing third line with a bingo card of linemates.

Definitely. I did mention the revolving door of linemates in reference to his decline as a whole.

Prove peeps wrong all over again. Making the Preds player taking a penalty with a sweet dive and scoring on the same penalty. Hopefully it can continue.

Everytime I think he's done, he proves me wrong. His game meshes so well w/ lehks and evans. That line is like Michel Therien's wet dream; dog the puck/grind cycle/shoot/retrieve/repeat. High volume shooting, energy line w/ chemistry.

A solid 5th round pick who would have been a legit 2nd liner if he played on contender in his prime.

Still good for around 15-20 goals and around 40 points if well surrounded. I think he could be an interesting piece on the trade market for futures before his stocks starts to nosedive.

Not enough of an impact player in the playoffs IMO tho to justify his 6.5M$ cap hit.

Dude was invisible last playoffs. It's been atrocious in the last playoff runs offensively and he's paid for his ''offensive skills'' which just consider of ramming the goalie and get rebounds.

Kravtsov+1st round pick would be a stud return for him if the Rangers we're interested. I heard Gallant likes Gallagher a lot. And Gorton drafted Kravtsov. Even just Kravstov and 2nd I pull the trigger.

Now that Gly has a new girlfriend... younthink he will put hockey 2nd now or play harder to try amd impress her?

Lol
To make an impression he must first cut his hair before it gets Gareth Bale bad. Getzlaf didn't hesitate.

That would be Kravtsov, a 2nd and 6.5M Cap hit Freed for 5 years, which is far from negligible.

I'd pull the trigger on that in a hurry. I think Montreal would need to eat 1.5M to 2M on the contract for it to happen, though. I'd still do it with 1.5M in holdback.

Kravtsov is a potential game changer. Hard to pass up.

I got crap for the offer on the other thread but the way I see it, Rangers have a lot of cap space and their rebuild is pretty much done, they are now looking to compete.

Plus Kravtsov might not come to America so he is a risk for them, and his progression has been poor in the KHL since he has been drafted. He flirts with bust territory at 22 years of age.

Gallagher might be that player that give them the grit and character needed to make a run in the playoff, he could be what Goodrow was to Tampa Bay but better.

And their first is gonna be low, so are all of their other pick.

I don't think Gallagher 33% retained for Kravtsov and a 2nd is that far off value wise, off course Rangers board would shit all over it.

From my understanding, she was aboard the infamous Sunwing flight. Gallagher is my favorite current Hab, but to imagine him being any close to this group of egomaniac douchebags makes me feel sad...

Gally is a 5 mil player. But such is life for the habs under maestro Marc. Always an extra bit here and there. Drouin at 4 and no one complains about him. Price at 9 million seems more palatable. Gift that keeps on giving.

We have so many huge contracts that mb signed that have so little value. Every discussion is move this guy and retain, move that guy and give a pick.

Gorton will need a miracle to have enough time to just move these long term contracts. Media will be all over the habs brass for why we suck in 2 years. Not understanding their boy left a 10 -15 million hole on the team in retention to move bad assets.

From what he has displayed this season, he is far from being a viable player in current trend of hockey.

Gallagher is the habs very own Ryan Callahan. Injuries will just keep piling up for this guy no matter how hard he trains in the off season.
