Eklund is a rumour aggregrate, not a trade breaker.

Teams are ALWAYS talking, and those talks can range from final negotiations to "is this player available? no? okay, bye"
Eklund takes what he hears and reports it. Everything and anything.

This site is simply a rumour and news aggregate too, beyond its discussion board.
We put a tag on Eklund rumours so you know its him though, so if you don't want to read Eklund rumours, you won't click on it and read it.
We put the tag on it to deter comments like this, yet everytime an Eklund thread pops up, half the posts are about how people don't like Eklund because his stuff doesn't come true, therefore he must make it up, and all the discussion on the rumour and possible trade gets buried.

We'll take your opinion on the rumour, but we don't really need your opinion on Eklund.

Oh ok, he is rumor aggregate, everyone. ;)

I don't really think Philly can't use a defenseman. But with Ghost, Shattenkirk doesn't fill the needs. They have a better version of Shattenkirk on the roster. And a couple others that could be better ones in the future. Shattenkirk is going to want to be paid like a top pair defenseman and Philly just doesn't need a top pair puck mover.

aggregator*, if that's what you were getting at.

I'm not saying he's good, right, or worth reading.
I'm saying we know what he is, which is someone who reports everything he hears.

Take it with a grain of salt, and stop complaining about him.

Shattenkirk+forward for Schenn+Streit+? might make sense, but that forward would have to be more than Paajarvi than Eklund indicated. I think if it was someone like Berglund or Jaskin, then it could work, because Philly would have someone to slot in the 2nd/3rd lines. Philly would have to throw something else in, but that's the way I could see something work.

Honestly I would be interested in this deal if the Flyers 100% add a top 6 forward via trading Sanheim or Morin or some type of other package.

Eklund was sitting in the stands with the rest of the Flyers fans at prospect camp. That should give you some sense of his sources here.

I honestly would love to see Shatty to Philly too. I thought I was the only one just cause majority of philly fans are dead set against it. Philly has great d prospects coming in, but they are just prospects and still it's unknown how they will turn out. I think Phillys time to seriously compete is around now, and not in 3-4 years when the prospects start entering their prime if they do hit it... To be honest having phillys forwards with Shatty on the back end and also Ghost on another pair on the back end would be entertaining as hell to watch... wow

Right...because a roster right now with Matt Read, Brandon Manning, Andrew MacDonald, Mark Streit, and Nick Schultz is much better than a roster with Konecny, Rubstov, Provorov, Sanheim, Morin, and Myers.

In 3-4 years, Giroux, Voracek, and Simmonds will be getting into their 30s. Philly is in a weird stage, where their best chance to succeed is one those 3 are at the top of their game.

This isn't the NFL where guys hit age 30 and drop off the face of the earth

Most kind of do. Peak forward production happens in the mid-late 20s. The issue is the forwards will be past their peaks and the defensemen won't quite be at theirs yet. It's a gamble to think more of them will have an immediate impact like Ghost had.

30 is old? 8 out of Pittsburgh's top 9 forwards were at least 28.

35% of the top 40 points leaders this year were age 29 or older...pretty hefty percentage

And 30 and older it's 30%, and 31 and older it's 15%. It's a big drop off once players hit their 30s.

And for the person who brought up Pittsburgh, the only forwards over 30 were Fehr, Kunitz, and Cullen. Their impact forwards are still in their high impact years.
