Tarasenko is Phil Kessel-light. He may collect another cup as a mercenary, but he's not someone most would ever put into a top 10 discussion for any 'Prime' period.

At their very best, I think Tarasenko had the slight edge offensively

it's worth noting that he had much less support offensively and despite that he has 2 seasons he's ranked higher in points than any of Brayden's seasons. Though that may change with Point's 2024-25 campaign.

In 2014-15, he had 13 more goals and 9 more points than 2nd best.

In 2015-16 , he had 22 more points and 19 more goals than 2nd best.

In 2016-17, he had 20 more points and 17 more goals than 2nd best.

During that 3 year timespan he was probably a top 10 winger in the game.

In contrast, Point has had Kucherov, Stamkos, Hedman for virtually his entire career. Has been on a top 10 offense and PP unit since 2017, and on multiple occasions his team was number 1 in one or both of those categories.

That being said.. it's hard to ignore Point's superior defensive game and playoff track record.

It also doesn't help Tarasenko's case that after those 3 seasons, he was done as a top 10 winger at 26, never finishing top 20 in points again.

But Point is still going strong at 28 with more seasons finishing top 20 in points, and may end up with his best regular season yet.

So yeah, since the question is prime, I do think Point comes out ahead due to having aged better, and the gap will likely widen barring a sudden decline from Point. But at their best, it's pretty close.

"Best Prime" but lists career accomplishments...

Points best season is 51 goals and 95 points, and he's still in his prime and on pace to surpass that this season.

Tarasenkos best season is 34 goals and 82 points. On pace for 10 goals and 29 points

That wasn’t Tarasenko’s best. League scoring has skyrocketed from his prime. His best was from 14-15 to 16-17 where he was 5th, 4th and 4th in goals and 10th, 12th and 10th in points. Over those 3 years combined he was 2nd in goals to Ovechkin and tied for 5th in points. Point’s best goals finishes are 5th, 6th and 8th in goals and 12th, 14th and 16th in points. He’s currently 4th in goals and 19th in points, though he’s missed games. Over the past three seasons including this one he’s 3rd in goals and 12th in points. Their production is pretty similar, but Point plays with the best winger in the game. I think Point is probably the better player, but there’s a good argument for Tarasenko being the better individual offensive player.

Tarasenko at his best was very effective in the playoffs too. At one point he had the highest career playoff gpg average in history.

But probably not so much as Point.

That's only because other better goal scorers had full and retired resumes.

Maurice Richard for instance had 12 goals in his first 9 playoff games but it was the war years.

Vlad having 10 goals in his first 13 playoff games (12 if you don't include the 5 minute single game in 12-13 was impressive but he also had a single assist and your metric doesn't really tell us that much.

toooo bad that his team DID NOT GET OUT OF THE FIRST ROUND when he held it. Using an 11 game window for those stats is amusing. The fact he only hit double digits for goals in the playoffs once is even funnier. 99 did it 11 times
