Bravo Allvin. The D is pretty much rebuilt.

I think the biggest bonus factor for getting Metey is that everyone drops down. Part of the reason Soucy was so effective last year was because he was playing on the 3rd pairing.

If he starts to play well again I could see that being like a trade deadline addition.

What I really want is Juulsen jettisoned to the moon and he never plays again.

Kinda feels like our old blueline in 2011.

It's going to be really good for Elias Pettersson (D) and Tom Willander learning from actual vet D (Yes Chaos Giraffe included). They will be our new Edler and Tanev.

I know what you mean but this makes how we're trending to day better, as we've never had a game braking Norris winning #1 leading the way before.

Half true. Sami Salo woulda had three or four Norris' had there not been an anti games missed bias. I guess availability is a big deal or something.

Sami Salo was a very good d-man.

But, he was most definitely never a Norris trophy winner caliber of d-man though.

…and I apologize if that was meant as a joke and I’m too dense to pick up on it.

But, trading Peter Schaefer for him is one of the more underrated trades in our teams history.

I own a game-worn 2006-2007 Sami Salo home jersey. My guy scored the goals wearing this thing. I like to pretend he's my boyfriend and I'm wearing his giant shirt he left here.

It really is pretty amazing that in mid-season, Allvin has been able to basically re-make the Canucks blueline.

Normally teams are mostly stuck with the defense corps they started the season with. A major re-tooling has to wait until basically the offseason.

But the two Petterssons' coming in, along with Mancini, has at the very least converted the blueline from being a huge 'negative' into one of the team's strengths. Seemed to happen almost overnight,.

It’s about time we had a really good defensive coach like Foote and not an unproven tweener Baumgartner. I remember when Larry Robinson was coaching there’d be all kinds of kudos sent his way for mentoring his back end on playing d.

We’ve been starving for a coach like that for a long time- especially with a lot of young guys coming up. It seems to be paying dividends already with Myers really turning his game around, Hughes taking it to another level, and now EP25 looking very much like he belongs in his first stint.

Maybe we should just take the old Nashville approach- top heavy on defensemen at the draft and leverage our coaching and development into a continually solid back end.
