Brantford Bulldogs 2024 25 Season Thread Part I

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Really hoping Avery is good to go for the start of round 1. Testa would be nice too, to slot in on that 2nd line, but Avery really helps the depth stretch to atleast the 3rd line.

After that you can slot Nelson on the 4th line and have some more trust that they won't get pinned down and worked over.

Should definitely see Egorov tomorrow. I don't think it matters to the Bulldogs who the #8 will be, less travel would be ideal.

I think we’ll see Avery soon which will be huge. Not so sure about Testa but who knows. A lot of argument that we only have one scoring line, and yes, they’ve scored a lot, but it’s great to see some of the other lines coming to life. Last 6 goals aren’t any of your usual suspects (aside from the Vanacker PP goal) and only 1 pp goal at that.

Budnick
O’Donnell
Tsherna
Vanacker (PP)
Jiricek
Krmpotic

That being said, hope our top line and pp don’t run into a slump and can keep rolling once playoffs start, along with production from the other lines.

Congrats to Krmpotic on his 1st OHL goal and to Leenders on his 1st SO as a Bulldog.

Question from my 11 year old watching today’s pregame; what is the OA situation? He said 4 were thanked before the game. I assume one has been injured or was released before the OA trade deadline?

Bujold hasn't played all year due to injury.

What a welcome sight to see Avery and Testa back in the lineup to give some much needed depth.

Interesting that Rosetto has quietly become the top rookie.

Rossetto has some speed and a shot that has really helped his rookie year. O'Donnell seems more like a guy that is going to be good at creating space and plays.

Like Rounder mentioned, Bujold suffered a concussion in preseason and it was his 6th in total. Had to take the year off and the Bulldogs chose to keep him involved with the team all year.

Impressive game by the depth yesterday. Really needed a game like that to build up the confidence of the bottom 6.

Thought the new kid number 20 had a really strong game for someone making their debut.

Completely agree on Diplacido. The only thing he struggled with was thinking he had more time/space than he did. Pretty normal thing to have to adjust to.

In the Kingston thread ScoutLife4 has said that Malhotra had verbally committed to Brantford for next year.

It'll be interesting to see. Hope it works out.

I had forgotten about Malhotra. That would be a nice plus.

Diplacido looked really solid in his 2nd game and 1st playoff game. Very impressive.

Nice to see them get depth scoring as well. They have to try not to let North Bay suck them into the chippy game. A few silly penalties, but their PP and PK both looked good.

Rossetto again.

Leenders was very good as well.

Nice start to the playoffs.

Now please, just let them stay healthy.

Even with him being right handed, I was surprised to see Diplacido in over Radley and Krmpotic. They must really trust him. Probably a guy they would have taken higher in the draft if he didn't have his NCAA commitment.

Probably see Babin with the team after his GOJHL season is done. Probably doesn't get in unless there is a couple of injuries.

Didn't think O'Donnell needed to take that fight last night, but the spirit was there. Not sure why both guys got game misconduct with it.

Little sloppy at times, but overall not bad. Special teams looked good. How many chances did Lardis have where the puck usually ends up in the net, but didn't?

They for sure need to work on the post game blackout celebration. That was bad.

EDIT: Just looked at the game sheet, the game misconduct for the fight was because it happened "at or after a faceoff"

Its funny, North Bay poster says it was the Bulldogs being the ones trying to intimidate with the behind the play stuff.

Just seemed like playoff hockey to me. Testas penalty was dumb. Would be nice to get more from him, but he's just missed so much time over his career.

You can literally see when he's about to take a stupid penalty. He starts playing out of control. Crombie does the same thing sometimes.

Anything from him is a bonus really, but it does give them more depth because he has the potential to do something positive.

Having actual forwards on the 4th line is nice. 2nd half of the year was basically 10F and 8D.

Edit: I also don't trust Testa defensively. In their own end he constantly floats to the wrong side of his coverage when there is a puck battle. Hoping for a quick and easy break out instead of being responsible.

Yup, I've noticed that too. Constantly on the wrong side of the puck.

You're right about having actual forwards.lol That's where the bar is though.

The last game of the season there was a battle along the boards in the Bulldogs end. His man is the D, but instead he was just hoping a Bulldog would win the battle and he was already outside the blueline.

Ottawa wins the battle. His D gets a pass and a great chance.

McKee talked to him on the bench. That's something that could cost them in a tight game.

Just not enough compete level through 2 periods tonight. Losing puck battle after puck battle.

Also, trying to be way to cute with the puck.
