Brantford Bulldogs 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part I

And the Flint Firebirds
The Icedogs and Firebirds are not at all alike.
Rolph Nielsen hasn't shown any signs of nickel and diming in how he has ran the Firebirds. The Hakkon thing was questionable but the team is fully funded and since that point seems to be on the right track.
Niagara is a whole other thing lol. Brantford likely has dodged a bullet here ( one that unfortunately Saint Catherine's took )
I guess time will tell..

My hope was that the IceDogs owner would sell the IceDogs to buy the Bulldogs (sorry Bulldogs fans😀). Still hoping he sells the IceDogs though.

don’t mind me.

Konnor smith already traded. I doubt Chen is getting moved

What are peoples thoughts on the Budnick trade? Surprised to see he is a +14 on a young and struggling Guelph team. Did not have to give much assets to get him. Fist impressions to me are a solid trade.

I dont know if this means the rumored Luca Pinelli trade is dead. Maybe they just could not agree on the compensation of the Mayich part of the trade.

Tommy dives onto the bench just before a sure goal - that's how he keeps the + so high. I'm kidding of course.

Wish Lavoie good luck in the QM.

Having said that, biggest disappointment on the team this year. It's like his heart just wasn't in it.

I like the Budnick move, gives them some size and experience on the back end.

Why is Rossetto significant? He can't be moved.
You're correct. I didn't realize that.

100% agree with this.

It was crazy the difference between this year and last year.

They needed one more solid dman and Budnick should be just fine.

They must have refused to give up O'Donnell with Ottawa.

If definitely rules out Mayich.

Pinelli hasn't been traded yet, so it's still a possibility.

I don’t understand why Bulldogs would do this. Roberts has been good this year, decent 3rd pairing guy and I could see him back as an OA next year.
Having the absolute "joy" of watching the Bulldogs so much as a Kingston fan I'm always amazed at how many unnecessary and at the absolute wrong time his penalties seem to be? He seems like he gets all worked up and takes a silly retaliation or over the top roughing penalty. He plays tough, and is a decent defensive dman, but his penalties could cost an important game or series.

I’m guessing they don’t see him as one of the OAs they want to keep…if the rumoured trade of 2 2nds and 2 3rds is true, I’d say it’s not a bad return.

There is no doubt he has had some disciplinary problems. I feel his puck control has gotten better this year and he is a heart and soul guy wh I would imagine be missed buy the players on the team.

If that is the return than yes my mind would change. I like Roberts as a decent 3rd pairing guy but I would never imagine a return like that.
